I did go on this tour but not with the cruise line. I stayed in San Juan a week before I got on the cruise. I loved the rain forest. It is beautiful and relaxing. But be prepared to walk a lot. It's also very muddy so don't wear sandals. Hope this helps.
Marlo is right ---It's a lot of walking but it's worth every step... We were on our own so we took our time...Go all the way to the waterfalls,it's really neat (the water is very cold)
Lots of neat shops on the road to & from the forest--------------
I took this tour offered by the cruise ship on another cruise line and they DO rush you through. We went to the water fall and climbed to the top of a tall tower to look out over the tops of the forest...it was wonderful, just too rushed. I am very leary about "winging" it and trying to find a tour at the port because you never know what you might be getting in to and I'm a single Mom traveling w/ my teen daughter. I plan to ask several of the staff on board for their opinions about sites to see on the island that may be safely found on my own. This has worked for me on past cruises. Some of the staff know the best places to go!
