Default cash or credit

Hello I'm going on the Western Carribean trip on Paradise and I was wondering if I should take cash or just use credit cards once we're on the islands? Does anyone know if the shops take credit cards or cashier checks? Please let me know thanks

Credit cards should work fine just about everywhere (well, except for the Straw Market in Nassau .

We just got back from the Inspiration Western .... Had a wonderful time. Some of the shops do take credit cards but they prefer cash. That is what we found to be true anyway. Char

I would take about $100 in cash and a credit card. The cash will work for taxis and other small incidentals, and a credit card for the rest.

They have an ATM on the boat but it usually runs out of cash by the end and they also have a steep fee.
The purser will cash travelers checks for you for no fee and you can get cash advances on a credit card in the casino ( it will be charged to your credit card as a purchase not a cash advance so you don't get hit with those fees either).

We generally bring travelers checks along and then cash them as needed on the ship. I don't like to carry large amounts of cash on me so this has worked well.
