Default Which San Juan Hotel?

I have booked a cruise in November. For the first time I am attempting to arrange the air and hotel on my own, in hopes to save a little money. Plus, I really wanted to go a day early. Where do you recommend in San Juan. I like nice accomodations. Clean and Safe a must. Thanks

We stayed at the Hampton Inn, it is closer to the airport then the pier.
Very nice and clean hotel. They have a great little burger grill at their pool. They have a continental breakfast included in your fare. They will also let you stay around the pool after check out time if you have a late flight or can't get on the ship. They will store your luggage in a locked room for free.

If you really want a nice hotel, book Tres Palmas Inn. It is not close to the cruise terminal, you have to go by taxi, but the location is absolutely perfect. It is located at the beach, overlooking the ocean. It has about 20 rooms in different prices. There is a small swimming pool, two jacuzzi's on the roof of the main office and a sun terrace.
The rooms are areconditioned, there is a fridge, a separate bathroom.

We stayed there last september and enjoyed every minute.

They are also on the internet, but I don't have the url at hand.

Enjoy your stay and your cruise !

Thanks so much, I will look it up on the internet. How much taxi fare should I expect from the airport to the hotel, and then from the hotel to the pier. Are there restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. Thanks for all your help.

Hi, Trina ...

For good value, I recommend the Hotel Milano in the Old City.

For a more deluxe experience, El Convento, also in the Old City.

And here's some stuff to do while you are there ...

I looked for the voucher we had from the taxi, but I can't find them.
How can I explain to you in my not so good English that the prices of the taxi at Puerto Rico are already fixed, so you pay always the same price.
If you get out of the airport there is a kiosk with, like we say kind of traffic agent but different, who controls the taxi's. You tell them where you are heading and they give you a piece of paper with all the prices on it and they point out the amount you have to pay for your destination. It is very easy.

Good luck!

Taxi from the airport to the port was $18 per taxi plus extra $ for luggage. From the port to the hotel at Isle Verde it was $10 and from the hotel to the airport it was $10. For a beautiful authentic hotel, see if you can get a great price at the Wyndham El San Juan. Regular rack rate for November last year was $290 a room. We had a coupon and paid $160. It was a wonderful experience that I love to rave about. Also, the El Convento is nice however historic right in Old San Juan at about $250 per night which may include breakfast and wine w/ cheese. Once you find a decent price, always contact the hotel directly to ask for an "manager's specials". You never know how low you can get.
Bon Voyage
