Default Do children sign their own Passports?

Seems rediculous I Know, but I cannot find and info on whether children sign their own passports or whether the parent signs for them. Our daughter is five and she can print out her name only. Is this acceptable?

I saw a thread at Cruise Critic about this subject. You might want to check it out, but I think you sign the childs name and then yours. Example: Kiddy Jones signed by Betsy Jones, Mother

The thread at CC was in the last few days, so it should be easy to find.
