Default Are 2-way Radios allowed on-board?

Carnival Pride 8/13/03

Tomorrow is the Day!! I have 2 general cruise questions.
1) Are we allowed to bring 2-way radios on board? I figure since the whole family is going we would all have a radio and when itís time to meet up we would use the radios.
2) Do they allow handheld GPSís? I would use the GPS on shore if I decide to do some site seeing of my own.

Thanks
Frank

I just came back frm the conquest and they were usuing two way radios everywhere and you could even buy them on board. I'm not sure about GPS but I would think it would be ok.

You can also rent the 2-ways on the ship for the week. Just make sure to put them on silent when you are in the show rooms and the dining room. That was a problem on our last cruise.

GPS are only receivers ,they are ok to take. They are great to have one on board for location and speed etc.....

Both are fine and many have them. As others have pointed out, be respectful and considerate of others and turn them off in the show lounge, dining room, etc and don't allow the kids, (or adults either for that matter), to wander around hollering "Breaker-Breaker, come in Big Daddy" and disturbing others. <G>

Just don't set it down somewhere like I did, because when you come back, it's gone and no one turns it in to lost and found, nor do they answer when you call from the other one asking where it is!

Depends on what kind of 2 way radio's you are talking about.

FRS radios are ok. ( The radios that everyone runs around the ships with)

Amateur Radios (Ham)(you need a license), you need to get the Captain's permission to use them. On some ships the Captain leaves it up to to the Radio Officer to grant that permission.

Last year my wife and I went on the the Celebrity Mercury and I was told to call the Radio Room and they told me that I could not use my Ham Radio aboard.

I have heard of some Hams getting permission to use their radios under certain conditions and if they promise to use certain frequentcies.

Does anyone known the cost to rent 2 way radios on board the ship? I checked Carnival's website but could not locate any info. Thanks
