Default Just got back from the Inspiration

I just got back from the Inspiration a couple of weeks ago. I would be happy to try and answer any questions.

We are leaving on the Inspriration on the 15th. How are the shows? Best shows to see and ones to miss? Was there anyone in the disco? We went on a Princess cruise last year and had the disco to ourselves every night! BORING! How is the food and service? I believe they said no hairdryers but are there shampoo and soap in the rooms? Good and bad ports? Weather?

Hope I haven't overwhelmed you!
Thanks a bunch!!!

Well I only went to one show which was Friday night. They danced and sang different songs ex: Motown, Country, Oldies. From what I heard the shows were ok. I hear the Comedian on the first couple of night was great. Well the disco this is where I was dissapointed. There were 3 of us ages 21 to 25. I wasn't looking to party all night long, but if you were lucky there were 20 people in there and that was on a good night. It seems as though after 12 everyone goes to sleep. On some nights the Kareoke was pretty crowded. The only thing that really seemed to be crowded was the casino. I mentioned to my agent how I thought Carnival was mostly a young crowd and it wasn't at all. The few younger people met said the same thing. She said she finds on any cruise people are tired and really don't like to party. Even on the nights when we were at sea the next day people weren't out. That was really my only complaint. I chose Carnival for that reason. We did meet really nice people though. The food was really good in the dining room. Lobster Tail, Filet Mingion, Chateau Briand etc and the service was excellent. The first day they have a buffet on the lido deck. By the time we got on board we were starved. The birgers were good, but the hot dogs were the greatest. At the Brasseire grill the food was pretty good. I think the best food was in the dining room for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I'm from New Jersey where we have New York Style pizza and it's usually hard to find good pizza anywhere else, but I have to say the pizza was pretty good. There are no hairdryers in the rooms, but there is shampoo and soap in the shower and there is a little basket they give you with thing like floss and razors etc. The formal nights are Monday (captains dinner) and Friday. The bar waitress Serge was great everytime we went to the Piano bar or dining room she was there with our sodas. It seemed as though she was following us =). As for the ports I am partial to Grand Cayman. I love turtles (one of the reasons I chose this itinerary). We did the Turtle Farm, Hell and Stingray tour. The turtle farm was fun you get hold the turtles. It's great for kids. Stingray City was awesome, the water is beautiful. You just stand there and they brush up against your leg like a cat. I would definately do that again. The only thing was it was a bit rushed. We had a few minutes at every place and a few minutes to buy souveniers. You have to make your decisions quickly. Since we did that tour we didn't have much time to shop afterward, but I was able to buy the watches I wanted. Then we went to Costa Maya which they say was made for cruise ships. It was nice we did the Jungle Beach Break which has an open bar. It was fun the beaches were nice. My pictues look like something on a postcard. Then we went to Cozumel and did the Dolphin Encounter which was a lot of fun also great for kids. Both ports in Mexico have a lot of shopping right where the ship docks. Then we went to Belize which was my favorite and we did the cave tubing. We had a blast. You walk 45 minutes through the rainforest and tube down the river. The river is pretty lazy. I'm not really that great of a swimmer, but I able to do all of these things. The ship was nice, but I liked going to the different ports more. To tell you much fun I had I'm already looking to plan another cruise for next January. If I've left anything out or have any other questions just ask. Sorry this is so long.

Rachel

Actually I loved all the information! 20 people in the disco is a lot more then on the Princess! I hear that if you book a cruise on a school vacation (college) then you should have all the party goers you can handle. When I went on the Destiny, the disco was loaded with people. As were the pools. Between the college kids and the pint size kids I had to go to one of the out of the way decks just to tan in peace. They were all drunk early and the girls were flashing all whole cared to look, including the pint size kids. Not much dancing room. So, thank you so much!
Hope your next cruise is even better!

I figured it would be like that because we went on winter break. One of us was going back to school when we got back. I guess spring break or the summer would be better. I'm not a real partier anymore, just looking for a little more then that. I guess just have to make your own party. Have a great cruise!!! Is this your first?

Hi Bonnie and Rachel,
I'm going on the Inspiration on the 15th also and I plan on hitting the disco. So if your there and so am I theres a party in the making. This is my first cruise, I just found this site last night and I am getting so pumped. Rachel I have seen a couple of your posts on here and your really helping me get excited. Do you have any recomendations of things I NEED to bring? Did you book all of your excursions on board or did you book any online in advance. What were the prices like for some of the excursions?
Bonnie I'll see you in 12 days and roughly 17 hours... and counting.

Thanks guys!

Hi Shannon,

Although the disco isn't really crowded they seemed to play pretty good music. This was my first cruise too and now I am looking into going on another next year. It is definately addictive. I was so excited I couldn't sleep lol. I would definately bring zip lock bags. We seemed to need them so things wouldn't get wet or just to put things in. We only had a few and they didn't have them on board the ship. I did bring a sweater and I was glad I did, because when we got to Florida it was about 40 degrees. The following morning was also pretty cool. If you are doing any water excursion definately bring a couple of underwater cameras, I was glad I had them. Especially if you are doing the cave tubing they recommended you not take a regular camera. They are right it would definately get wet. If you read the message I posted we did an excursion everyday through the ship. It was about $300 for all four. We did do the Dolphin encountr and the Cave tubing and those two were $ around $185 together. It all depends on what you want to do. You can write Carnival and email and ask for a list of the ports you are going to and what tours they have, that will also list the prices. I was glad we booked through the ship, because we came close on time in the Caymans. If you have any other questions just ask. I hope I covered everything you want to know.

Rachel
