Stupid cell question...

Probably been dicussed alrready but has anyone tried their cellphone on the boat? Does it work from any of the ports: Jamaica, Cozumel, Grand Cayman?

you'll have to set your phone to roam..... the bad part is you wont know the roaming fees till you get the bill. In San Juam I was hit with a $60 charge for about 4 to 5 minutes.

Look at my post on 3/5/04. I have Verizon Wireless and was able to call in Calica and Cozumel. It was not expensive compared to the ships rates. If you search by author with the keywords tamigenecruise you should find it.

i called my cell co. and got service at nationwide no roaming for st. thomas and san juan --

you can get service at other ports --( my teenage daughter used my phone to call her bf ) -- but the rates are similar to ship rates

Your phone should work, but always check with your cell phone carrier to see what the roaming charges should be. I have T-Mobile and for some reason wasnt charged roaming in Cancun. They should be able to send you a map of their service area (or you can find it online) and if your phone works outside your service area, be prepared to pay roaming charges that can be outrageous!

How do I go about finding the website tamigenecruise. I've tried Google without any luck. Would apprecaite any info concerning use of cell phone in Cozumel, Progresso, and Belize as we sail out of Galveston in June 04.

Try searching the Cruisemates site for tamingencruise instead of the net.
