Hey... I am going on Carnival Valor, on July 10. Currently we have a 9A cabin.
But it is our honeymoon, and I was thinking of surprising her, and upgrading... but looks like it is sold out. Is there a waiting list or anything for Carnival... that if a room opens up that they could call me... or do I just have to keep checking?

Best to keep checking, as some TA's will release group space, and then in turn free up other cabins, or also guests might cancel. Check with CCL to see if there is a wait list for the cabin category you are requesting. But I have seen a Cat 9A, and that is a nice cabin.
Check right after final payments are due - cabins will often be released.

Don't count on Carnival contacting you even if they put you on a waiting list. I tried for a couple of weeks to get a category 12 for my cruise in June.
I had seen one listed online (carnival.com) but when my TA contacted them . . . it was gone . . . I had my TA contact them again to be put on a waiting list. About 2 weeks later I was checking the website again . . . there was that suite listed!!!!! Needless to say . . . I contacted my TA and snagged it . . . but . . . they had never contacted us!!!!!!
The first suite we obtained was a partially obstructed so . . . a week or so before final payments were due . . . I got online again . . . ANOTHER suite was available . . . this one without any obstructions. Needless to say . . . I got ahold of my TA again and got switched over!!!
Just keep an eye on the websites . . . then when you find something . . . NAB it QUICK!!!
