Never had that problem in Aoril. Winds aren't usually that strong then.

We always cruise in April. Always have wonderful weather. And we love the western Caribbean in April. I dont think you have to worry to much about winds.....

Thanks for the info on your past cruising experience in April cruisingrandma.
After taking my parents on their first cruise this past July and enduring a reroute of souther Carib. ports due to hurrucaine Emily, I hope to assure them of smooth sailing.
Looking forward to the West. Carib ports never have visited them before (Gr.Caymen, Costa Maya,Cozumel & Belize) Feel free to email if you have info on these ports. p.s. any experience on Carnival and tendering is also appreciated. (I tired emailing but no success using Outlook email right now. )

buffetfan2004:

We sailed Western on the Sensation our first cruise. We too sailed in April and have ever since. 2006 will be our 3rd April cruise.

The weather in April is awesome. Usually hit mid to high 80's and that wonderful breeze.

Water was a little choppy going in and out of the gulf (sailed in and out of Tampa and Jax). Once out in the ocean things were calm.

We did have to tender into G. Cayman on our first trip. The government would not allow the ship to dock in Georgetown so we went around 1/2 the island to Spot Bay and docked there. We tendered in and out and it was fine. They pulled a smaller boat up to the ship steps and we walked down and across a little water bridge into a water taxi type boat.

From what I recall we were not that far out as we could see the island from the ship.

One thing to remember is to allow yourself enough time for the tender when returning to the ship. We headed back an extra 30 min early to allow for the tender.

Enjoy and have fun planning.

Safe Sailing.
