Default 1st Night Dinner - Destiny

Since the Destiny does not leave the port until 10:00 PM - I just was wondering if someone could tell me about the dining for that night. I am assuming that the dining room will be operating, with the assigned seating, even though there are some people that probably will not even be checked onto the ship yet. Is that the case?

I havent sailed Destiny out of San Juan, and hopefully someone who had will come along with a definitive answer.

The dining room will definitely be open.. but different cruise lines handle the first night out San Juan differently. Some will use open seating that first night, and others use the assigned seating.

Default Destiny

Hello,
I don't have the answer to your question, but I am also going on the Destiny and want to know the answer to that question. I also wanted to know when you are going on the Destiny?

Default Answer to 1st night dining

OK--this is based on last two sailings (last one July 2005)
The first night is casual (hey not everyone has their luggage yet) and it is open seating--with early and late just a bit earlier than during other nights of cruise:
5:30pm early
7:45 late. When you arrive at entrance you will be directed to a table, the waiter will wait until table is full then take orders. This will not be your permanent table, nor tablemates.

p.s. at 9:35pm was the muster (life boat drill)

We just got home from the Destiny on January 29th. and the first night was open seating. They would prefer that you go to the open seating that you are assigned. Example if you are assigned to the early in the Galaxy Dinning room then that's when you should go. But you most likely won't sit at the table that you are assigned to. They seat you where there is room.

Hope that helps.
