Default St. Maartin Shore Excurstions... what do you reccomend?

My wife and I will be taking our first cruise this fall. We are trying to decide on which shore excursion to take in port at St. Maartin. We would love to rent some Jet skis for a few hours of fun out on the water, but cannot find any excursions that have the option to rent jet skis. Does anyone know of a local place in St. Maartin that would allow us to do that. Also would it be better for us to spend the day on the beach and water, or split it with some shopping in the shoppin district. HELP Please!

Default St. Maartens- Port Call

My recommendation( and only remember only my recommendation) is to disembark, get a taxi at the port to take you to Orient Bay Beach($20.00).
Absolutely the BEST beach on the island!! Parasailing, Jetskis, and QUALITY bars and restaurants. Don't let others mislead you- This IS it!!!
Take my advice for what it's worth- the NEW wife and I love this beach and will be back before June '06.....Enjoy.. 8)

I see Orient beach is a nude beach. Do you have to get naked on that beach? I don't mind what others do, but don't plan on getting naked myself

it is a nude beach - but hardly anyone there is actually nude. You might see a few walking down the beach...but that is about it.
You definately can keep your swimsuit on if you choose.

I also recommend this beach, it is one of my favorites and is absolutely beautiful. We spent the day there in October and it was wonderful. Going back in November on the Victory!

Yes, you can rent jet skis at Orient Beach, just a taxi ride and plenty of taxi's to take you back to the pier.

Last trip there we did the Rhino boats, great fun. Have also done the America's Cup Regatte, also a great excursion.

I recommend the Golden Eagle Catamaran.
Right off the pier. Unlimited Rum punch and beer. Sandwiches.
Champagne!
snorkeling clothing optional beach

The people who run this, make sure you all will enjoy this trip.

Great Fun!!!!!

totally agree with Annie - The Golden Eagle Catamaran sail is a great excursion. You sail up the coast - which is gorgeous, you sail over to this small island (Tintamar) where you can swim, snorkel, relax on the beach, go for a walk, etc. The rum punch doesn't start to flow until you reach the island. The crew provides sandwiches, there is a champagne toast on the way home, a toast to a successfull voyage. Its a lot of fun, for all ages. Its not a wild booze cruise. There were quite a few kids on our excursion. The crew is great. This is a very popular excursion that you can only book thru the cruise line. Book it early.

thanks for your advice, after I posted this, google helped me find www.shoretrips.com and it reccommended sending me to Orient Beach and do Jet Ski rentals or other boat rentals. I think this will be a great way to spend our last day at port before heading back to Florida. If anyone has pics of their adventures that would be great!

If you do a search in the Photo Gallery for Orient Beach - you should be able to find some good photos. Another suggestion would be to search on webshots.com for Orient Beach - and you will probably get hundreds of pictures to look at.

I can't wait to get back to Orient Beach - it is one of my favorite cruise destinations.

Hi SHM,
In a word "YES". For sure worth the time and money, it was a gas, as much fun as jet skiing I thought, plus these boats can't tip over and they go just as fast.

Yes, it is a tour, they have a tour guide that you just follow out of the harbor into the ocean and they take you to a beachback. They also let you go pretty much as fast as you want. where you can relax, snorkel, have a snack/drink before heading
