Default Gaurantee Rooms get upgraded often?

I am in a gauranteed balcony room, my PVP at Carnival said that my stateroom would be assigned to me when I got to the ship to board, but there is a chance we would receive an upgrade too. Does this happen often? What would I most likely be upgraded into? I assume a small suite is the next step up above a balcony room. Let me know what your expierences are.

Upgrades can and do happen. We have been upgraded several times. Sometimes to a higher catagory of balcony cabins...once to a cat 12 suite! We are sailing in April and our PVP at Carnival told me Friday he could upgrade 2 of the cabins we have booked from a gty balcony to a room assignment in cat 8B. It isn't much of an upgrade, but that cat was 200 pp more than the gty we booked for our son and his family several months ago, plus they are getting a $40 pp refund on their cr card! they could have kept the gty balcony and waited to see what kind of upgrade they received if any at all, but this room was right down the hall from the one we booked so it worked out good for us.

Is this your first cruise? Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

A lot will depend on how full the ship is for your sailing. If there are cabins available, they will upgrade you.

Carnival Glory... my hunnymoon cruise!

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! You'll love the Glory, we did the western route on her a couple years ago and are doin the eastern in Dec. Our first time on Glory we were upgraded from Cat 4 Guarantee all the way up to Cat 6E. That's unusual cuz the norm is to be upgraded to a higher deck within your category. But, anything's possible depending on how full the ship's booked. DON'T miss the chocolate buffet!

We have never been upgraded. Just never been our luck! But, I always book with no hopes in mind. However .... I just booked on the Fantasy going out of New Orleans and booked a balcony for 4 of us. Its a sorta of graduation gift to both my daughters. As you know the fantasy class ships (which I actually like better EXCEPT for the fact they don't have as many balconies) do not have as many balconies - they are called suites. So, I booked a suite. However, their suites ironically do not hold 4 people, so we will automattically, according to my TA, be bumped up to a penthouse. Now, that will be awesome for the girls! To bad its only a 5 day cruise. :-)

I hope that works out for you. Did your TA guarantee you that you will be bumped up to a penthouse suite? I don't know how she could do that....but good luck. Would be great for your family.

No, she didn't guarantee, but since I bought a suite gty room and suites do not hold 4 people, she said they would by default or something put us in the penthouse to accomodiate the 4 of us. ?? Yes, would be nice. I can't see how the suites do not accomodiate 4 people when the OV can hold up to 4-5 people! Makes no sense.

I had a cat 12 on the Inspiration and it could easily hold four people so I don't know what type of suite you booked but a cat 12 holds 4 with no trouble. It had 2 full sized beds and 2 sofa sleepers. Hope this helps!
Have a blast!

You had mentioned a penthouse suite which is one level up but you can't book that w/o big big connections, so I wasn't sure which category you were referring to. Thanks for the clarification and have a blast!
