I was thinking about going to see Atlantis on our four day cruise when we dock at the port. Anybody been there and is it worth doing through a tour or on your own? Ro
We visited there in May and the hotel and casino is extraordinary. The sculptures in both are amazing and the aquarium was very nice. When we came out of the aquarium, we just walked the grounds of the hotel and took some great pics. Played in the casino for a little while (no luck).
If you don't want to pay to go through the entire aquarium, just go to the hotel dining area. The walls are actually the walls of the aquarium.

We also walked over to the Atlantis on our stop in Nassau. We did not have an excursion scheduled. We wanted to find a beach but some people we asked on the walk over there said that people were not allowed in the water because of the choppy conditions. We walked around the hotel, some of which we were not allowed access to if you were not a guest, and viewed the "freebie" windows of the aquarium - we didnt go to the one where you walk through it so I dont know how much the admissions was to that.
We were in Nassau in November and took the excursion booked with the ship. It was well worth the money. After the guided tour you are free to go back through on your own. That is what we did and ended up spending several hours at the aquarium. It is beautiful. I would recommend it.
I have about 40 pictures from the aquarium and grounds in the photo gallery.

I read somewhere that you can get into Atlantis Aquarium area for free after 5:30 or so. If you are there overnight you could go over and roam around and take a taxi back (inexpensive). Another excursion that looks interesting is a garden tour just outside Nassau.
We had also wanted to do the Garden tour, but didn't have time for both tours. We were only in port about 5 or 6 hours. So that means we have to go back one day to go on the Garden Tour.

From what I have learned it is basically free after whenever the security guards go home for the day.
Which I would imagine would depend largely upon the time of year.
We did the 4 day Sensation cruise in September, with the 7Am-7AM stop in Nassau, but we did a walking tour and did the $15 daypass at the British Colonial Hilton for the pool and beach.
(I will never understand the people who get a room for the day at Atlantis or the Days Inn next door, to use their pools and slides for the day?!?!?!?)
We are doing the same cruise in January and might try the Digs after dark,(Aquarium) after spending a day poolside/beachside at the BCH again.
This si the first I've ever heard about any $15 passes..Atlantis is not very far from the pier, you can actually see it from the ships, I would think its fine to take a taxi there. I'd check into the price of just doing the tour through a ship excursion that includes the transportation.
