Darcy is right. The Westshore area is hard to beat for a pre cruise stay. Lots of good restaurants in the area, 2 big malls, and only 15 minutes or less from the port. (very close to Tampa International Airport too) Most any hotel in that area is going to be good. (I personally don't know of a bad one there)
Have a great time on your cruise, and in Tampa.
Im going on inspiration march 22nd staying @ sailport resort and suites a one bedroom suite was 129.00 has a queen size bed in main room queen size sofa bed and bunk beds for the kids full kitchen and ocean view balcony free shuttle service also the price may seem high but for 5 of us 2 of those kids to split it in half is good price. When we went in Novemebr we stayed at the LaQuinta Inn by the airport/westshore they also offer shuttle from airport to get to the pier it was 9.00 per person and the room was about 69.00 Hope this helps James
Am sailing on the Miracle 2/11. Made reservations at the Double Tree, got a good military deal and they also providr shuttle to the pier.
Have also made reservations to eat at Berns Steakhouse, anyone else ever eat ther? Supposed to be a one in a lifetime experience.
Hello Chris. Yes, Berns is a one-of-a-kind place. Presidents, movie stars, and everyone who is anyone, always go to Berns when in Tampa. It may shock you a little bit when you arrive there. When walking into the lobby, it kind of looks like a "house of ill repute". ie; red and black velvet on the walls, sculptures, and paintings, but the food and service are second to none. They have their own farms, and grow their own veggies etc. Their wine list is a book that was so large, that people were walking off with it, so they quit leaving it on the tables. Whatever you do, make the extra effort to go to the dessert area. You actually go upstairs to a totally different table for dessert, and once again, it's outstanding. I think you'll find it a great way to start off a cruise vacation. Let us all know how it was when you return.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn-Stadium they offer free shuttle to the port and also from the airport to the hotel. Some restaurants within walking distance. You can walk to the Buccaneers stadium and the Yankee , spring training complex is there also. I think we paid $89.00.
I'm from Tampa. There are several nice hotels near the port. It all depends on how much you intend to spend. There is a very nice Hyatt downtown (one mile from the ship) that a group of cruisers booked on Priceline for $49.00. I almost fainted, the normal price is around $200.00 per night. There are other hotels downtown, it just depends on what you intend to spend.
There is a nice hotel, I believe it is a Hampton Inn, in Ybor (pronounced EBor) which is a couple of miles from the port in the tourist area. There is a very nice Mariott (down town). Harbor Island also has a nice hotel.
Anything down town is within a mile or two. Some people stay in Westshore (30 minutes) near the airport. Some of the hotels there have free shuttle service. I believe the Mariott at the airport does.
