Default Rent car or shuttle from LAX

We are taking a cruise on the Carnival Pride in May. We will be arriving in LA the day before our cruise leaves. If we stay in LA would the shuttle be cheaper or would renting a car, parking it at the pier and taking it back to LA? There will be four adults.

Any suggestions if we do use a shuttle, which one? Hotel in LA? We were going to stay near the airport and rent a car for the day.

Thanks for the advise.

Default The shuttle would be cheaper than renting a car

Plus, you would have the parking charges at the terminal ($12 per day).

Prime Time charges $32 each way for 2 people. $64 + tip total roundtrip.

SuperShuttle is the other van that operates at the airport and they are $2 more.

My favorite hotel for your short stay is the Hacienda (this is where we put up all our bz. associates). Just 5 min. south of the airport in El Segundo. It is a European style hotel and they have a free shuttle to/from the airport, and to some of the local beaches and mall. If you book them, ask for the south tower rooms - newer and nicer.
The rates in May would be $99/night, $89 if you have AAA or AARP or something.

Enterprise does have a place you can drop off near the pier if you want to rent a car. Just be aware they charge a surcharge of $25 if you drop off at a different location than where you rent from.

Default Alamo usually doesn't charge for dropping at another locale
