Default 18/17 age restrictions

We're first timers and traveling with an 18 and 17 yr old. How strict is the enforcement in the late night dancing on Carnival when it says 18 and over? Will anyone acutually 'card' the 17 yr old after 11:00PM and force her to leave?
What about other 18 and over activities?

Thanks
Hakmat

I should clarify. The question isn't their ability to get alcohol served. It is whether or not they would be allowed to stay and dance. The Carnival web site says that the age restriction is 18 or above to stay in the dance club after 11:00 pm.

Thanks

We had this come up for us, and there was no problem for the 17 year old. It is like you say, no trying to get a drink, but just hanging out with the crowd.

It depends on which Carnival ship you are sailing. Many of the newer Carnival ships have dedicated teen discos, where they can stay fairly late.

Those that are not equipped this way do check IDs for those under 18 by 11 or 11:30 PM

Yes security will have someone watching the door. If you look young they will ask for ID.

I might be confused. Are we talking about the 02 club which is the teen club, or are we talking about the disco? For the teen club they do often check ID's, but the disco I have never heard of them checking.

This quote is taken from the FAQ section of the Carnival Website

"Lounges, Shows, and Disco:
Guests under the age of 18 should be accompanied by an adult in all public areas of the ship. Guests under the age of 18 must vacate the disco by 11 PM."

So I'm assuming this is the adult dancing venue.

Thanks for all the replies, I guess they'll just take their chances. Worst case scenario, they are asked to leave.

I was just on the Conquest where they served hard liquor to a minor. All over the ship. He was soooo discustingly drunk! He also went to the Disco and they never made him leave. Be careful, because even if you think it will not happen, it has!
