Middies gone wild on the Glory

So now we have Naval Academy midshipmen gone wild on a cruise ship (Carnival Glory). Lots of groping of women, feeding under age girls liquor, etc. Real nice ! One passenger e-mailed the Academy from the ship reporting the behavior of these infantile idiots. This keeps up (with the rash of divers from the balconies) there may be a lot of vacancies this summer.

What an embarrassment for the Naval Academy. I would venture a guess that those who are involved with this incident will no longer be in the Academy and will be flipping burgers (no flaming please) for the rest of their lives.

School officials acknowledged yesterday that they have been unable to identify who may have been involved, and any investigation will face jurisdictional challenges since the alleged incidents took place at sea.

ABSOLUTE horse-hockey!!! These appleheads are governed by the UCMJ ANYWHERE they go ESPECIALLY while in uniform. AND, a simple review of the ship's passenger list would provide you with every midshipmen's name. It ain't rocket science, I don't know why the media and academy officials feed us this bull and expects us to buy it.

The millitary culture does not change. Before anyone jumps on me I am pro-millitary I just don't like the turn a blind eye policy that is so pervasive when it comes to sexual harassment and abuse.

PUBLIC FLOGGING should be instituted at the academy, these people will some day run our military. The academy has had many sacndels in the last few years, and public flogging may have them thinking about something.Yes public flogging

Academy finds no crime in midshipmen's 'lewd' acts ...... found that up to 10 midshipmen acted "immature" but committed no crimes.

I was on that trip on the Glory. Between those obnoxious guys and the jumper I don't know if I will sail Carnival again. This was our 5th Carnival Cruise but each year the spring breakers get more wild and Carnival does nothing but keep feeding them more alcohol. Not all the kids were bad, we met some really nice kids from Notre Dame that were really funny and pleasant (not too drunk by the end of the cruise...the sail and sign card was beginning to be a reality!) I do feel that the USNA should reprimand these guys since they were in uniform some of the time. Since they found it necessary to represent the Navy in that way really ticked me off since at the same time my nephew was serving our country in the USMC in Iraq without speedos and cowboy hats!
