Default Trip/Travel Insurance Whats The best Way To Go?

I have searched for info of another thread about travel insurance, and have not been able to find anything. I am trying to decide if it is best to get my coverage through Carnival, or through another agency that specializes in that type of coverage. Please give me you input, and your experiences both good and bad. On our previous trips I have gotten it through Carnival, and just wonder if there is a better option.
Thanks
Gary

I don't have a lot of cruise experience but I do travel a lot overseas. I got better coverage directly from AIG Insurance at about half the price that Carnival wanted. I also read somewhere that if you get the insurance from Carnival that it doesn't cover if Carnival cancels the trip for some reason ... not that it would.. but I suppose it could. I'm guessing that the insurance wouldn't pay off on that because it would be cheaper for Carnival to offer you something instead .. a future trip or refund etc.

My biggest concern when overseas is not necessarily trip interuption or lost luggage etc. but medical. The biggest ticket is evacuation if for some reason a serious issue came up and someone needed to be flown home, the cost is astronomical.

Anyway, those are my thoughts on the matter.
Yours aye,
Hakmat

Because I fly in one day early Carnival's insurance does not cover the flights for cancellation. WWW.TRAVELGUARD.com I use them just for this reason.

Go to www.insuremytrip.com and you can get quotes and compare different insurance policies.

I always use CSA Travel Insurance and have never had a problem with them. I have had 3 claims with them too, the last being a cruise on the Conquest with a jumper.

My claim was for:

Cost to change flight
Hotel
Dinner
Rental Car
Baggage Delay
Cost to replace broken blow dryer in delayed baggage.

Everything I claimed was covered and I got the check within a week of it being approved. It was well over $300.

The secret is to keep all receipts. I turned in news clippings to prove the delay for the cruise ship, the DHL tag to prove my delayed baggage along with the lost baggage claim I made at the pier, the receipt from the purchase of my blow dryer and the receipts for the hotel, rental car and dinner. Then I also sent a copy of my credit card statement with all the charges that the receipts matched.

Judy;
That is good to know that what you had actually works. I know that dealing with insurance companies can be difficult. With all of the documentation you covered all of your bases. I will check them out also.
Thanks
Gary

I also recommend insuremytrip.com to compare the policies. Depending on your circumstances and the type of travel, you may need more coverage in one area than someone else.

We had a cruise planned with our son, DIL, and grandbaby, and my DIL's mother and dad. My DIL's mom got very ill and they all had to cancel at the last minute. Insurance gave them a full refund. That was the 2nd time they had used cancellation insurance, without a problem.

Yes, it is worth it!
