Default I must be REALLY boring...anyone NOT do the "night thin

We don't do the discos and all of that...we usually go to the show and then back to the room to sit on the balcony. ! We are in our forties...must be getting old. Heck, I was married on the Triumph this past December and we didn't even make it to the Honeymooner show. The only "club" type thing we made it to the whole week was the "Oxford Lounge" and that was for our wedidng ceremony. ROFL! we spent 80% of our time in our room sitting on the balcony and ordering room service. anyone else NOT do the night dancing and all of that?

If you got married on the ship we understand why you spent so much time in your cabin.
No, we also hit up the show then head back to the room or the casino then the room....

Lou...we weren't REAL newlyweds though...we lived together for nine years before we got married so that's NOT the reason we were in our cabin.
I sat on the balcony to read and DH watched TV....! It sounds like we are in our eigthies! I AM !!!!!!!
That's what I love about cruising...you can do as little or as much as you want.
Ahhhhhhhhh the ultimate vacation...lounging, relaxing...only decision you have to make all day is whether to eat at the buffet or dress up for formal dining. Heck we only made it to the formal dining room ONCE...

yes we did...it was AWESOME! we pulled up to the port of Miami and they came on to announce that the port was CLOSED...SHUCKS!!!!!!!! a cool thing...since they had hardly any passengers to take the trip after ours (because we got two extra days at sea!) they offered another five day cruise for only 100 bucks a person and I could KICK myself for not doing it...especially since school was canceled for the week (I teach) AND I live in Miami and we had NO electricity for two and a half WEEKS! UGH!!!! to think that I could have stayed on that ship to escape the misery of sleeping with no air and no hot showers for an additional five days. The reason I didn't stay is because I had a grad school paper due and my books were at home. only to come home to no electricity to type my paper with!
live and learn...
Raina p.s. have a GREAT time on your trip! you leave SOON! YAY!!!!!!!!!

I am 48 and hubby is 53 -- we have NEVER even in our younger days been disco people. We go watch - sometimes - but leave because of the smoke. However - shows, dinner - walk around - back to room, relax, read, sleep. We are boring too........but I don't mind.

We just took a taxi to a little fishing town about 5 miles from the port. Layed around the beach... It was the most relaxing port we went to...

No, it's not the boring routine you talk about. Typical cruise day: Wake and eat breakfast, usually the nice one in the dining room. Go sit in the sun and watch people and relax, sometimes with a book. Eat a light lunch, maybe something from the deli. Take a nap in the afternoon, wake up and cruise the deck again. Get ready for dinner, and 50% of the time, go to bed because we ate too much. Sometimes we set the alarm and go to the midnight comedy show, but not that often.

Not much on excursions,,,,,just walking around looking. Do we have a good time? Have a blast. It's a relaxing time for the body and soul. We don't exert ourselves in "doing it all" because we'd come home pooped out. I've seen many folks getting off the ship at the end of a cruise that look like hell. To me, getting back refreshed and realizing that there is a "life" other than the day to day doldrums we get hung up in, makes me start planning another cruise, right away.

We are in our 20's and we didn't hit the disco or anything like that in the evenings. Must not be an age thing. Carla

I like that you are able to just sit in your room and relax. I would do that too, if hubby would leave me alone.

This is why I cringe when someone says something smart about having a TV in the room.

If you look up the word cruise in the Luanne dictionary, you would see the phrase, "Enjoyable time to do what the heck you want to do, as long as it does not hurt someone else"

We had a balcony for the first time, and that is what we did. Just hang out there in the evenings. (not literally) It was so nice to not be "NEEDED" for all of those preceived emergencies. No family, or "friends" around. I can't wait for that oppotunity again.
Lou you guy's need to have a blast for yourselves, and all of us waiting to go. We are living vicariously through others adventures.

I'm so glad to hear that we aren't the only ones that can't seem to stay up past 10 or so.....but after spending all day in the sun, we're usually just zapped after dinner and maybe a show! We always have great intentions on catching some of the later entertainment, but........
We're in our mid-40's and the only thing that made me feel better last summer was that our 17 and 21 year olds didn't make it too late either!

I love to dance and I'm old (45!), but I'm with Cheryl, the smoke really gets to me! On the last cruise I asked if there were anyplace that had dancing with out smoking. There wasn't, but the karaoke lounge was smoke-free, so we went there a couple of times. If I had a balcony, I'd be right there! We do the inside cabin passenger way and stroll the deck at night.

With karaoke they play music from a song without the words. The words show up on a TV screen and you sing the words with the song. It is really fun to watch people do it. I have never been able to do it (I don't drink) but been with alot of people that love it..
Go watch it sometime.

were in our 40's and i doubt we'll do a single bar scene.

However on our Jan cruise my daughter has already announced her excitement about the night life. she's 22...its her time to do that stuff..ugh not mine!

Hubby & I are in our late 50's....and we love to dance....not so big on the bar stuff (not huge drinkers, really) but if there's music, we'll be there till I can't keep my eyes open!

Only problem I've had with this is when we have a port/excursion the next day and hubby still insists on getting up and going to have breakfast in the dining room. But last week he actually told me that on our upcoming cruise (Carnival Freedom sailing May 13th) that he wasn't going to worry about eating breakfast in the dining room -- wooo hooo! That means at least a few minutes more sleep after a late night.

I do tend to spend more time in the cabin than my husband, however....if he keeps me up late tripping the light fantastic, I WILL be taking a nap -- whether it is on the Lido Deck chair, our cabin's bed, or in my salad at lunch. (I prefer the cabin bed!)

Now Lou, drinking is not prerequisite to doing karaoke, although it does make for interesting watching sometimes!

Margaret, the non-drinker who can still belt 'em out in front of a mic!

Well, let me dispel the age thing. I'm single, 42 and I often go to danceclubs, sometimes until 6am. It's not age that makes you lose interest in late night outs, it's MARRIAGE. Nothing wrong with that. It's just a different stage in life I have yet to enter. Besides that, you kind of have to enjoy being with 20-somethings to be in the disco. Fortunately, I have much appreciation for guys in their 20s
