Default Melting chocolate cake

Does anyone know where I can get the recipe for Melting Chocolate Cake? We were in heaven eating it on the Liberty. My kids ordered it every night. I would love to surprise them and make it at home.

Carnvial sells recipe books on their website under gifts.....you should check it out and see if they have one just for desserts. Good Luck!

Cyndy;
Here is the recipe that I found and works very well.
Enjoy
Gary

Warm melting chocolate cake at home!!! Did the conversions from Carnival's jumbo recipe and tried it...I think we've got it! Here's the recipie I used:

8 oz. dark chocolate (i used 1 1/3 C. semi-sweet choc. chips)
8 oz. butter (i used one stick salted, one unsalted)
5 eggs (room temperature)
5/8 C. sugar
2/3 C. flour

Melt chocolate & butter over low heat. In mixing bowl, mix eggs and sugar, then add flour. Slowly whisk into the melted chocolate mixture. Pour into greased (i used Baker's Joy) ramekins. (i tried 4 oz. & 7 oz. -- 7 oz. is just too big!) Bake at 400 F for 12-14 minutes. Yield: 36 oz. unbaked batter; 8 servings if you use a 4 oz. ramekin.

Adjust times according to the size ramekin you use, and the texture you prefer. In a 4 oz. ramekin for 13 min., the texture on the inside of the cake was a little heavier than pudding, kind of like a loose fudge. I also did some in my convection oven at 350F. 13 minutes in a 4 oz. ramekin yielded a smooth, hot fudge sauce-like center. In the 7 oz. size, 16 min. at 350F in the convection oven produced a pudding-like texture in the middle. Regular oven, 7 oz. size, at 400F, smooth, heavy sauce-like texture resulted after 14 min.

Hey Gary,,,thanks for the recipe. The lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) has the Carnival recipe book but the Chocolate Melting Cake isn't in it, so your help is greatly appreciated.

THANKS

I am not much of a dessert eater either, but if there is a Warm Chocolate Melting cake to be had I am there. Reverendjeff had this to say "I now have a chocolate melting cake where my abs once were."
I too will be that way after our next cruise.

Just off the "Liberty" and the melting cake was on the "every night" menu. Some of the folks at our table did indeed have it every night. It's excellent.

This sounds like a recipe I tore out of my Feb. '07 Readers Digest to keep. I haven't tried it yet but after hearing so much about it I will soon. And I will try it when we sail May 12 '07 on Liberty.
This is their version. I have bought the ramekins at K-Mart.

Chocolate Cakes with Liquid Centers

1/2 cup butter
4 squares bittersweet chocolate (1 oz. each)
2 eggs
2 egg yolks
1/4 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons all-purpose flour

1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees; butter and flour four 4 oz ramekins

2. In top half of double boiler set over simmering water, heat butter and chocolate until chocolate is almost melted.

3. Beat eggs, yolks, and sugar until light colored and thick.

4. Mix chocolate and butter and slowly pour into egg mixture, stirring constantly. Stir in flour until just combined.

5. Pour batter into molds and bake for 6 to 7 minutes. Cake centers will be quite soft. Invert molds on plates. Let sit 15 seconds. Unmold. Serve immediately with whipped cream.
It sounds incredible.

Does someone have an Applebee's in your area? They have a cake that sounds so much like the Carnival one. Has anyone had both and can compare?
