Default 1st Cruise! Triumph June 23rd 07

Hi, My husband & I are celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary on a Carnival Cruise. We just got our documents last week & we are soooooo excited! We are leaving Miami and sailing to Cozumel, Grand Caymen & Ocho Rios. We also found out that our cabin is on the Main deck, Aft with oceanview. We have never cruised before & can use any advice offered for first time cruisers. I have alerady booked shore excursions for each port we visit. Also, anyone else on this cruise?

Amy,

Congrads on your first cruise. I am very familiar with your ports as well, and it is three of the best.

If you have any questions, let us know.

Luanne

We are also booked for the Carnival Triumph Western Caribbean but we are not sailing the same week you are. We are on the next Western Caribbean interiary sailing July 7.

We are cruising in celebration of our 20th Wedding Anniversary!

Which excursions did you book?
We booked the excursion to Xcaret, the Pirate Encounter in Cayman and arranged a private tour to Dunns Falls and River Tubing in Ocho Rios.

Congratulations on your 20 years!

We have booked the Mayan Ruins of Tulum in Cozumel. We are taking the Island Tour in Grand Cayman & We are playing it safe in Ocho Rios, we are going to the Bamboo Beach Club & be beach bums all day.

Your excursions sound fun too! Good luck.

DITTO! The ruins in Tulum is a long excursion (ferry to mainland, bus to Tulum) but UNFORGETTABLE. It'll be very warm there in June, so I suggest your group opt for the tram at the park. Hope you like IGUANAS!

Hi Amy!

We've been to Tulum and have done the Island excursion in Cayman.
We visited Tulum in August 1990 and in June 1997--both times it was very hot! Be sure to take your bathing suit along when you visit Tulum in case you wish to go swimming in the beautiful turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. We booked our first tour to Tulum from our Royal Caribbean cruise ship. After Tulum they made a stop in Xel-Ha, which we didn't know about as it wasn't mentioned in the tour description. We also didn't know that you could go swimming at Tulum so we came unprepared without our bathing suits! We wished someone would have mentioned this fact to us back then so that's why I am mentioning it to you now.

The Cayman Island excursion was also interesting. When we did this tour in 1990, we got to see a little bit of the countryside, a Conch Shell House, visit Hell and the Cayman Turtle Farm. On the way back to the ship, we had the option to stop at 7-mile beach for a swim. We took a local bus back. The beach stop was worth it and we got some nice photos!

You'll enjoy these tours and congratulations to you as you celebrate your 15th Anniversary!

Went on the Triumph last October on that exact itinerary. One excursion we went on was the Bob Marley adventure. Was a real hoot. You will love the ship and the ports.

Hi Carrie,

My husband and I are traveling without our children. We were so young when we got married. (I was 18!) Now, after 15 years, we are taking the honeymoon we could not afford back then. Our daughters are 13 & 5. They are okay with not going. They have big plans with friends of ours that have kids both their ages.

We are going to the Mayan Ruins of Tulum while in Cozumel. We are taking the Island Tour in Grand Caymen & going to Bamboo Beach Club in Ocho Rios.

What excursions do you have planned? Do you know yet if you have early or late dinner seating? We have early according to the online documents when I viewed them. Our paper docs don't say though, it just says per request but subject to change.

Are you going to Miami the day of the cruise or day before? We are flying in on Friday the 22nd and will be staying at Days Inn. They offer free pickup at airport and free transport to the cruise port.

Amy

It's a great ship. We have good friends sailing her this month too. The lobby is very impressive. Make sure you go on the slide...it's great fun.

Hi Amy,
You are going to enjoy the bamboo beach club in ocho rios! You will be waited on hand and foot all day with food and drinks, watch the rum punch it's strong! You will get a wrist band and can leave and return any time you want. It's not the beach you see on tv commericals, but its very safe and within site of the ship and right next to the shopping area also. If you see "tasha" or "gerval" tell them the crazy fool from Mississippi says,"hotty toddy" Have fun wish we were going also!

I may be late in posting this, but we went on the Triumph last year in April. We had never been on a Carnival ship, and I had never read so many negative  things about the ship or Carnival, but I did not tell my friend.

To say the least.....this was one of the best ships of 7 cruises I have been on. We had a wonderful time.

Have a great time too.

I went with my mother (who is over 60) in January on a Western cruise on the Victory (one year younger than Triumph). We didn't stopa t Cozumel, rather we docked at Costa Maya, but we did go to Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios. I loved Grand Cayman, however, we did the Strngray City and Island Tour and we enjoyed Stingray City but had less than an hour for the turtle farm and Hell--which was the place I truly wanted to see. We're going back in Febraury on the Conquest and going to the turtle farm so we can stay there as long as we want and then go shop, shop shop seeing as we had less than half an hour to catch the last tender and that doesn't give much time to shop.

I recommend stopping at Island Village in Ocho Rios and do some shopping there. You can walk from the parking lot of the pier up the street to Island Village (it's on the right side..). It is really not that far at all--around 5ish minutes.

I head East on the Triumph in September and am so loking forward to it--83 days......*BG*

You're leaving tomorrow, so I may be too late, but I just wanted to say, you will have a great time on Triumph. We sailed her 2 years ago, and had as good a cruise as any we've had on Carnival. Their entertainment is the best, and there's no lack of fun activities. Bon Voyage!

I'm sure this is too late for the one that just left on the cruise, but for those who still may be "thinking/planning on going this direction, yes, as someone mentioned take time out to see the turtle farm, and HELL, if you want.

The turtle farm is a definate must.

As for HELL, I sent postcards from there so I could tell my children I had been to HELL. Actually all it is (as least this is what it was when we were there 7 years ago) is a small store, and a bunch of BLACK rocks.
