When getting off the ship, we want to rent a car for a couple of days. Do you know if Avis, Hertz or other have their agencies directly at the port or do we have to go to an office location outside the port???
We havent done it but I believe there is a car rental office near the Bayside Marketplace.
I remember it being mentioned here before so maybe someone else will chime in with more details.
It would be a short taxi ride to the marketplace area.

There are no longer any rental companies located right at the Port of Miami.
There are several downtown (close by) outlets. All the rental shuttle buses that normally show up to the pier take guests to the airport location.
You'd have to make seperate arrangements if you want to rent from one the downtown locations. Enterprise is one who has an outlet by the Hyatt Hotel, and I believe you can arrange pick up from and to their location.
WE WILL BE ON THE CARNIVAL VALOR IN NOVEMBER.WE HAVE A RESERVATION WITH DOLLAR BEFORE AND AFTER THE CRUSE. FOR DROPPING OFF YOU DROP IT AT THE AIRPORT AND THEY HAVE A FREE SHUTTLE TO THE PIER,BUT WHEN WE COME BACK THEY HAVE A PCIK UP TO RENT AT THE PIER
HOPE THIS HELPS
Most leading rental agencies have a pick up right at the pier by shuttle bus. They bring you to the airport location where you do your paper work and pick up your car. We did this just last month with Alamo, and dropped off the car at the Ft. lauderdale airport (no drop off charge). It worked out very well.
