pre-paying gratuity

We cruise in a month but I want to prepay our gratutites in two weeks. i am sure we will already have our documents by then. Should I just bring the receipt with me incase they charge our sail and sign for gratuity?

I'm going to ask a dumb question....... Why prepay them? Save your money.. collect interest on it. If you want, pay it off when you board the ship.

Hi Dina,
I always prepay everything and bring a copy of what I purchased, just in case. I have never had a problem..

Have a fun cruise,
Kathy

So its just a way so that you only pay a bar bill when you leave the ship? I understand that. Thanks.

I pay everything now, before we cruise, including the bar bill. The interest is good to collect, but the piece of mind, knowing the cruise is all paid when I get home, is better. LOL

I'll ask another dumb question... Does cruise insurance cover all of your prepaying as well?

Luanne Russo July 31st, 2007 03:45 PM

It depends on the type of insurance.

Speaking of dumb questions.... :-?
How do you pre-pay your bar bill?

You don't drink on the cruise?

Luanne Russo July 31st, 2007 08:46 PM

That isn't a dumb question. LOL Go to the Carnival web site. Click on gifts and services. Click on Fun ship dollars. Buy as many as you think you will need for your on board expenses. They will then give you a place to add your address to mail them to you. Instead of your address, put On board credit, Room number. You pay for it with your credit card, and Carnival will send you an e-mail thanking you, and it will say on board credit. Print that out and take it with you to the ship. If you do it soon enough, it will even appear on your Documents when you get them in the mail, or by e-docs. If you do not use the whole amount that you have purchased, you will receive a check on the last day of the cruise, and they will even cash it for you. LOL

I found out a week ago you can pre pay. I called Group Dept at VTG and they put it on my credit card and it was a done deal. I'm one who likes to get things out the way early. That way, I have more money onboard for shopping.

Of course I drink, that's why I was asking how to "pre-pay" my bill. :D

Thanks Luanne for the tip. I'm going to definately pre-pay. I would love to have that out of the way. :-P
