Actually.. Hurricane season is now through late October/ Novemberish..
yes it can mess with flights as well as your itinerary. This is why its cheaper to cruise during this time frame.

In most cases hurricanes won't affect your cruise other than possible changes in itineraries.
The ships stay on top of all weather conditions... and ships move faster than hurricanes. They won't put their passengers or their half billion dollar ships in danger.
I got lucky, cruised to Bahamas on July 29th. We had a thunderstorm with a heavy downpour that we sailed through about 30 minutes after leaving Port Canaveral. It ended within an hour and the sail away party on the lido desk resumed It was perfect weather after that - too humid, actually but that's the Bahamas in July/August.
I'm so glad we didn't have a hurricane to worry about!

Having lived in S. Florida, its been explained to me that the reason the storms get worse as hurricane season progresses is because the water is getting warmer. So, the worse hurricanes are later in the season, late August, or September usually, but yes even October. After that the water starts cooling off so voila', no hurricanes. July is rarely more than a tropical depression.
The warmer the water the storm passes over the more speed the hurricane picks up. Also like when Dean slowed today, thats bad, when it slows it is picking up speed too...or if they say the pressure is dropping. Only been in 3 bad hurricanes, and thats enough, Andres, Frances and Jeanne, I was trying to move away during Jeanne, what a mess. Now Im far enough inland in Texas that the storm wouldnt hurt us up here. Watching Dean though.
Im glad Im no on Ecstasy or Conquest leaving early next week, sounds like a problem?
I am STILL concerned as I am flying in the middle of September, so time will tell. It's not so bad if you can come/go at will, but when you work and have vacation at certain times, the weather can really mess you up.
Actually it is not the cruise so much that I am concerned about, but the flight.
Trust me the cruise lines dont cancel unless they have to, get insurance, they will sometimes reroute but that would be last minute....Beaware of ports that tender the ships if the water is too rough they will not tender which means tough luck you dont get to go ashore..RCCL did that to us on Grand Cay...and the seas looked flat.....
