Default Carnival kids' menu - food allergies

DS (4 years old) has egg and nut allergies and I can't seem to get info out of carnival about what he might be able to eat from the kid's selections (they say I just have to ask once I get there). He eats plenty of "adult" type foods, but I'd love to know if there were some staples like pizza, chicken fingers, and mac and cheese, that didn't have egg or peanut in them. Anyone have advice? Thanks!

If you call the 800 number they can take note of your sailing and arrange for food specially prepared to avoid the allergies or cook what they would ordinarily make without cross contamination .

You might use the search feature here on CM and look for allergies under the Carnival section. I recall a thread here recently on that subject.

We were to be on the Ecstasy out of Galveston this week, however, I cancelled due to the weather situation and port change. That being said, my son has severe nut allergies. I filled out the Carnival medical form provided via e-mail from Carnival (had to have the Cruise booking agent request that for me) and faxed to them. Someone called me from Carnival in a few days to discuss my son's needs, and assured me they handled food allergies every day. She said the best thing is to speak with the head waiter directly as soon as possible after boarding, and he would go over menus with you and discuss "safe foods". I also got the idea that the pizza, hamburgers, and hot dogs would also be safe for my son. I was warned to stay away from the buffet because of the "cross contamination" issues there. Overall, I felt fairly safe after speaking with them. They also assured me that the ship carried epinephrine and was prepared to deal with allergic emergencies. I was going to carry "port" safe snacks on board, and was going to request that the ship pack a safe sandwich box lunch for us on the days we were in port. I heard that they will make those accomodations. Have a good time, and hope you don't run into hurricanes like we did.

I have severe peanutl allergies. I carry an epi pin and benadryll. That being said I don't want to have to use them. I went on the Conquest in May. I did pretty good on ship. Was able to eat about anything in resturant and did okay on the buffet. Just checked out the situation before I got anything. Did not get desert from the buffet though. I have to be very careful about things like that. The food its self was okay. Just have to watch desert. I did not have any problems.... But it is always beter to be safe than sorry.
