January temps in the Bahamas
I'm a little nervous bacause I have heard that the water temp is a little on the cool side during the month of January. It's frigid temps now in NH so anything will be better than this but I would love for it to be really warm. Anyone with any info???? thanks

The weather there is very warm in January. Low 80's. I was there for my birthday one year and it was very hot. I do know it gets cool at night so you might need a sweater. I think I have visited the bahamas during every season and it is never below 80 during the day.

Just jump in and you'll be fine. We went snorkeling in Nassau in mid January 2007, and it's a tad chilly for a minute, but fine after that.

My friend, who many times has styed there in January, has sometimes come back, saying it was chilly! Lets face it though, it will always be better in the Bahamas in Jan, then New England...Bring a sweatshirt, and put your tootsies in the ocean..have a BALL!

The temp will be at least 90 degrees warmer than Minnisota!
Not sure of the water temp, here in Clearwater we stop swimming in the Gulf when it dips below 85.
75 at the moment Brrrrrrrr

I was just there, and even St Thomas' water struck me as "chilly" but certainly not too cold for swimming. But I am from Phoenix and we stop swimming when the water gets below 85 (in our pools).
(that is not a joke)
It is like this, you run in and it feels chilly, so you run out, and the breeze makes it feel chillier outside, so you run back in the water and it feels perfect. Figure 30 seconds of "chilly" and you are fully acclimated.

I went to Nassau Christmas of 2004. It was in the eighties and beautiful. However, the tour guide we had told us that the week before it had been in the 60's.
I don't think it will get too cold to enjoy the tropical amenities but it is a bit of a crap shoot. It may be very hot or you may land on the one and only week of cool (never cold) weather. In which case, you grab a windbreaker or sweater and enjoy.
I am sure the captain of your ship will do all he can to put the ship in some nice warm sunny weather for your sea days.
I am cruising in Feb which is really the most brutal of all the winter months and, coming from NYC, anything above freezing will feel balmy to me by then I just want to take off the boots, gloves, wool hat and down coat for a few days. Man that stuff gets heavy.

We will be in the Bahamas at the end of dec., since we're from Connecticut, I'm sure we can handle the weather even if it get a little cool.

Heres a site that has average monthly temps, average rainfall, and average number of days with rain based on a 30 year sample. They have it for all countries, here is the bahamas link.
