CruiseMates Blog2NOLA Theme Song

I want all the songwriters in the crowd to get busy.

This is a contest to write a theme song for the CruiseMates Blog2NOLA group cruise.

The winner will get a Blog2NOLA T shirt.

Give us the lyrics, and the name of the song that it's set to.

We'll make all the CruiseMates sing it in public onboard and come back with the video.

beenie weenie February 6th, 2008 08:04 PM

I am all over this one!

Travelnut February 6th, 2008 08:09 PM

How about that old Fats Domino song just change the Walkin to New Orleans to Bloggn to New Orleans. LOL

Kuki February 6th, 2008 08:23 PM

You don't have to be going on this cruise to enter.

Or if you're going, but booked elsewhere, that's OK too!

We welcome all songwriters.

beenie weenie February 6th, 2008 08:24 PM

To the tune of Basin Street Blues

For those of you unfamiliar with this tune come here to check out Satchmo in all of his glory doing this classic jazz tune:
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6b...eet-blues-1959
Won't you come along with me.
Down that Mis - sis - sip - pi;
We'll take a ship to the land of dreams.
Cruise down the river,
Bloggin 2 New Orleans.

John and Kuki's there to greet us
Our cruisemates will meet us,
Where all the bloggers love to meet
Heaven on earth, they call it New Orleans

Erato Street is the street
Where the Cruisemates always meet
In New Orleans, land of dreams
You'll never know how nice it seems
Or just how much it really means.

Glad to be, yessiree
Where welcomes free, dear to me,

Where I can lose my Bloggin 2 New Orleans Blues.

I helped Beenie with her lyrics.....WOW I'm tired! Great song though.....what do you think? Melody

beenie weenie February 6th, 2008 10:33 PM

Well Melody you are just so full of crap, but I still love ya honey! I put a link on it to 1959 Louis Armstrong performance for folks not versed in the fine art of dixieland, that I grew up cutting my teeth on.

Y'all are funny. :D

mteague February 6th, 2008 11:04 PM

Yes we are funny! AND we have great fun when we are together! So Beenie remind me when you will be in town so I can meet you. Will your Mom be with you? We need to find a karaoke place...for y'all...not me....I'm the audience! Melody

beenie weenie February 6th, 2008 11:12 PM

No mom isn't coming...Dad can't raise enough cash to get Venice to take her off his hands. So he's stuck with her. That's OK NOLA is full of great musicians, we don't need her.

I still have to sing the pork chop song for you guys.. still not sure who I want to dedicate it to. Well I have a year to decide.

Can you believe that Kuki didn't know Basin Street Blues? It's a good thing he's coming to NOLA so we can help broaden his horizons into the world of trad jazz and all that good stuff. I think he needs a trip to Preservation Hall so he can experience it first hand.

mteague February 6th, 2008 11:24 PM

All the school bands can play Basin Street Blues....okay change the lyris to the song "They All Ask For You" I'll stay up a bit for this one! Melody

mteague February 6th, 2008 11:30 PM

I went on down to the cruise ship sloop and they all ax for you...Kuki ax..Venice ax and Melody ax for you. That's my part!

beenie weenie February 6th, 2008 11:30 PM

http://www.buckwheatzydeco.com/bwzyd...fyouframe.html

Is this it?

Let me sleep on this one tonight. It's a cute simple zydeco tune, just trying to think of a phrase to replace "audobon zoo"

beenie weenie February 6th, 2008 11:31 PM

Dang girl thats good!

venice February 6th, 2008 11:31 PM

Mel...I'm working on that one..does that mean we split the BLOG2NOLA nightshirt on alternating evenings

mteague February 6th, 2008 11:33 PM

yep that's it....see my post above yours

beenie weenie February 6th, 2008 11:38 PM

Nah we'll just ask Kuki for a XXX-Large and you can both wear it at the same time.

mteague February 6th, 2008 11:43 PM

rofl rofl rofl Hey I started it...so you guys need to add your parts! Melody

beenie weenie February 6th, 2008 11:52 PM

OK I will look at it in the morning. It is a cute song. Well see what we can come up with. Well girlfriend, its time for me to put the beenie to bed. Take care, D/H is suppose to be home tomorrow. I fear he may not be able to get his car out of the airport parking lot since it snowed so heavily in Chicago, if thats the case, I will have to drive up in the giant blue TuRD and get him and leave the car there until we can get it out. Pray he gets the car out, because I have been to Chicago once this week and that was enough. I hate the city in the winter time, and only mildly despise it in the summer... It's not the city really, its the traffic.
Either way I'll pop in and see if we can't come up with something creative, looks like you were doing pretty well yourself though.

mteague February 6th, 2008 11:56 PM

Okay we will sleep on it. It's easier for me and Venice. We've heard that song ALOT lately. Melody

mteague February 7th, 2008 12:11 AM

Venice...I think we ought to put as many names as we can in that song. I'm too tired to work on it tonight. I have to get up at 4:30. I'll post more on it tomorrow and we can combine it. Melody

venice February 7th, 2008 05:07 AM

Mel...the things we Louisiana folks will do for our Cruisemate Friends LOL LOL ..I'll work on it this weekend on Sunday after church since there is no football and I'm buying some new 8) 8) Smooth Jazz to listen too 8) 8) ...You know that will distract me from my real mission of catching up on all my back issues of Playboy Magazine so I will be able to spot the last 24 Playmates of the Month at the pool on my Playboy Jazz Cruise 2 weeks earlier :-P

I love Beenie's suggestion that we have Kuki give us a XXXX nightshirt and we can wear it on deck on PJ night..You can wear a Saints/LSU inspired thong and I'll wear a Jazz/60's Motown inspired speedo underneath our nightshirt  and since you just came from the Zulu Ball we can teach all our Cruisemates how to 2nd line around the deck to our "theme song"..I'll see if I can get Irma Thomas to record it for us on a CD prior to the cruise

mteague February 7th, 2008 07:53 AM

Venice.....here is my version! Thanks Trudy for the "Blog Cruise 2" idea!

They All Asked For You

I went on down to the Blog Cruise 2
And they all asked for you
They all asked for you
Well, even inquired about you

I went on down to the Blog Cruise 2
And they all asked for you
Kuki asked
John asked
And Heidi asked f'you, too

Chorus:
Bom-bom-bom, bom-bom
Ba-de-ba, da-bom-bom
Bom-bom
Ba-de-da-bom-bom-bom

*- - - Snoozeman & Trudy
*- - -

Bom-bom-bom-bom
Bom-ba-de-ba, bom-bom-bom
Bom-bom
Ba-de-ba-dom-bom-bom

I went sailing on
The deep blue sea
And they all asked for you
I say, they all asked for you
Well, even inquired about ya

I went sailing on
The deep blue sea
And they all asked for you
Beenie asked
Venice asked
And Melody asked for you, too

Bom-bom-bom-bom
Bom-ba-de-ba, bom-bom-bom
Bom-bom
Ba-de-da-bom-bom-bom

'Scurvydog'

'Linda & Guerry'

Bom-bom-bom-bom
Bom-ba-de-ba, bom-bom-bom
Bom-bom
Ba-de-ba-dom-bom-bom

Background chorus:

They all asked for you
'Linda'
They all asked for you
'Pheelgood'
Everybody there
'Bruce'
Wanna know where
'Darlene & Cheryl'
They all asked for you

'You know what?'
They all asked for you
'Party Animal'
They all asked for you
'Shortcake'
Everybody there
'James & Joyce'
Wanna know where
'HappyJan'
They all asked for you
'Phil & Liz'

They all asked for you
'John & Priscilla'
They all asked for you
'KelzBelz ask for you'
Everybody there
'Frank'
Wanna know where
'Jim'
They all asked for you
Scubbely, boobely, doobely

They all asked for you
'Big Al & Myra'
They all asked for you
'Luvygirl and Sherry'
Everybody there
'Laura'
Wanna know where
They all asked for you

'Come on and cruise!'

Bom-bom-bom-bom
Bom-ba-de-ba, dom-bom-bom
Bom-bom
Ba-de-ba-bom-bom-bom

And you sing it to this tune!

WE HAVE A WINNER!

Melody

venice February 7th, 2008 06:11 PM

Mel...d*&^% that's good..I have a much simpler version

When the levee broke and all the water came thru
(and we all love to cruise)
Carnival sent 4 ships and the use of their crews
(and we all love to cruise)

The Cruisemates asked..Kuki asked..and John Heald even asked too..
Every Cruisemate in the world wanted to know what they could do

Blog, Blog, Blog

John"s" thingy" sails from the Big Easy
(and we all love to cruise)
Planning a Blog2NOLA party that might Kuki uneasy
(and we all love to cruise)

The Cruisemates asked..Kuki asked..and John Heald even asked too
Everyone who post on our board ask what MORE can we do

Blog, Blog, Blog

Habitat folks said they would love more hands
(and we all love to cruise)
We will pound nails to the sounds of Sir Elton John's band
(and we all love to cruise)

The Cruisemates asked..Kuki asked..and John Heald even asked too
How can so much fun be had by just so few

venice February 7th, 2008 08:25 PM

I'm Just A Cruising Man (to the tune of Rocket Man)
LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

I packed my bags last night....pre boarding is at 11 am

And I 'm gonna be seasick or drunk by then

I miss my Cruisemates much more then I miss my ex-wife

It's lonely in my suite

On such a short 5 day cruise

And I think it's gonna be a B2B cruise

Kuki February 8th, 2008 10:35 AM
