Default Age ranges on the ships

I wonder, what age range did you find was most prevalent when you went on your last cruise.

I just got off the Conquest and I can say with assurance that 50% of the ship was in the 50-60+ category. Everywhere you looked there were seniors! Yes, there were a fair number of families with kids of all ages, and the typical 20-40 single party people, but overall, most had one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel!!!!!

On our last cruise we met all the different age groups and made friends with most. I cannot say that there was an over abundance of seniors or children. The seniors we met were as frisky as the young crowd.

Being over 50 ,I resent the implication that I have a "foot in the grave and one on a banana peel" That said, on my last cruise I saw more under 40 than over, and way to many infants.

I'm 25 but I would be happy if there were a lot of over 50 on board. One I get a long a lot better with older people because I like to talk about business and politics. Also, it would leave more time for me to do a lot of stuff that would fill up if more young people were on board.

It has a lot to do with the time of year. Many passengers on the Conquest are from the surrounding states, and the kids are all in school this time of year, unless they are home schooled.

During the summer, and Christmas you see more of a variety.

What age group would you expect on a 7 day cruise out of San Juan in July? Also, how do they decide who to sit you with at dinner? Do they sit you with people close to your room on the ship?

In July, I would think you will find all ages.

They try to seat you with people that are either your own age, or something you might have in common.

Teens with teens

Middle age with middle age

I understand what they mean. When I was young I thought 50 was very old. Now I think it's the time when you just get started.

My wife and I will be in our mid 20's but I would prefer to sit with an older crowd or get a table for 2 since it will be our honeymoon.

Do you know if it's hard to get a table for 2?

I have not found it to be so hard. First get your TA to request a table for 2 from Carnival. Once you get on the ship, go to the dining room and see if your have your table. If not, ask the Head man to see if it's possible.

There were a majority of seniors on our Ecstasy cruise in Jan. There were a good deal of 30 somethings also. We talked to all age groups, and found everyone to be of similar tastes. They were all there to have a good time. I am also 58, and by no means done yet. As someone once said " I am not as good as I once was, but I am as good once as I ever was"

That's a good quote. It's also in a song by Toby Kieth. I'm not sure if that's where you heard it from or if it was someone else.

When we were on the Conquest during MLK Day, the age for most of the passengers was in their mid thirties. Lot of very rude ones also.

A line from South Pacific (1958):
"Cable, it is a common mistake for boys of your age and athletic ability to underestimate men who have reached their maturity. Young women frequently find older men attractive, strange as it may seem. I myself am over fifty. I am a bachelor. And Cable, I do not, by any means, consider myself th-r-rough."

I know, some of the old ones were partying harder than the younger ones at the Mardi Gras party!

Not everyone slips on the banana peel.....Heck, I could have taken myself out several times this past cruise because I would forget to look DOWN or note what is agead. I can't count how many times I ran into things or tripped because the slope "suddenly" started going uphill or there was a loose brick! I also almost wiped out on someones puke, oh and there was swan dive/slip I took on wet deck barefoot--my shoes were packed). I took a bow when I got up......

I just made a sociological observation (ooh big word!) that there were an unusual amount of passengers from Texas and surrounding states and fair percentage were older.....My niece didn't enounter many kids at all her age (9-11) in Camp Carnival either.

FYI I'l be 39 this year.........I don't feel old (it's only a number).

As I said, Kids in Texas are in school this time of year. If you want more kids, you have to cruise when school is out.

Omgosh ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE

i never thought of myself as old (except at 4am after working 10 hours with 4 to go and noticing wrinkles are deeper...but thats another story) but im 44 this October and i know i get along with older folks just as well as i do younger. I cruised Sept with some folks a few years older and really fell in LOVE with them all!

..........course, i might not have my whole foot in the grave but i do have my big toe pointing in the right direction??

I'm a young 43, sorta. I dont do night life. I will do occassional drinks with the girls at restaurants and once or twice a year we'll go dancing together. Hubby hates night life...probably cuz he doesnt drink. Young guys still hit on my sometimes, and thats all i need to make me feel better about life

YUP ME TOO! i didnt even notice. the only think i did notice was the huge lack of children on the Jan cruise vs the Sept cruise. I actually like the children since you get to see fun stuff thru thier eyes.

I felt about in the middle age wise i guess, basically again, didnt notice a thing!
