Default Has this happened to you?

You've been on a wonderful (and much needed) cruise. Perfect weather. Memorable excursions. Great crew. Then, you get home, go in the kitchen, and reality hits you....THERE'S NO MIDNIGHT BUFFET!!!

OMG, This has happened to you too??????

I really am wondering if someone will come into my home, turn down my sheets and make me a towel animal. I just cannot get my husband to do this yet, he keeps wanting room service.

I know, it was really hard adjusting to not having food every 2 hours.
(or icecream whenever you want!)

Or the first meal after you get back that you have to actually give somebody money for and the whole time your are eating you keep reminding yourself "don't forget to pay for the meal, don't forget to pay for the meal, don't just walk out".

At home, we are constantly trying to figure out what's for dinner, what's for lunch, did we take anything out of the freezer for dinner, oh oh, what about breakfast....
I'm so sick of thinking about our meals all the time.... 8)
It's especially hard if your trying to watch what you eat, because it's so much easier to say let's go out and get something....

I miss being able to hang off a balcony in tropical weather. I also miss having food anytime of the day I want. I keep searching for something to eat in my cupboards and all I find is food I have to prepare.....

I also miss the fabulous sun. As it is, it is snowing here and thankfully it isn't too cold.....I'll finish up labelling pictures and then upload the pics I want to Webshots this weekend.....

I thought the same thing when I returned home. I was wishing I could just walk right to the diner table and EAT!

"I miss being able to hang off a balcony in tropical weather."
Now that I miss And I miss gliding into a strange port at dawn -- and a leisurely drink at sailaway before dinner -- and conversation with amiable tablemates. But I gotta tell ya -- as much as we eat on cruise ships and as many months as we have spent at sea, we have never been to a single solitary midnight buffet. (Probably because we always do late seating.)

It is clear to me that all respondents to this thread (including this author) are suffering from

Cruise Deficit Disorder

[/b]Cruise Deficit Disorder is a recently recognized syndrome characterized by:

- illusions of multiple dining options 24/7 with stand-by table clearing staff and free refills

- nightly bed service, including towel animals and chocolates on the bed

- daily bed service defined as the bed magically being converted from slept in to made while you enjoy the too numerous breakfast options

- hot tube-side bar service of fruity drinks with paper umbrellas served in neon plastic glasses

- cheerful people willing to provide directions, assistance, and other services on a voluntary, often unsolicited basis

The presence of one or more of these symptoms is considered indicative of the presence of CDD and the individual is advised to contact a Private Vacation Planner or other professional certified in the planning and booking of a cruise vacation.

Last year on our anniversay, we went to a very nice restaurant that we had always wanted to go to. We had just returned from 19 days in Europe which included a 12 day Grand Med cruise.

As we were seated, we began to remark as to how the table set up, the wait staff, etc., reminded us of our prior cruises and meals in the dining room, particularly on formal night. We had a nice crab cocktail, salads, steak and lobster, dessert and champagne. When the check came, we didn't know whether to laugh or cry as we saw our bill (champagne excluded) which came to over well over $200 for two of us. My "market price" lobster was $85 with no sides, dessert, appetizer etc. My sister and brother-in-law sprang for the champagne and their bill was almost $400. This is where the similarity stopped We looked at each other and said, we could almost have booked another cruise for what we paid for our dinner.
