Default For those who have sailed on Valor...

What did you like/hate about it? What were the Carnival "tour" excursions like?

UPDATE: I have booked 2211 on Main deck, a 1a with upper/lower bunks that has two porthole windows!

I heard this ship has ship-wide internet wi-fi; so, will it work in my stateroom as well as up on deck? I understand there's a fee.

Thanks!

that's at least one link with people who love.

i lllllllloooooooovvvvvveeeeeeee the Valor. she's beautiful.

you have picked the best ship in the fleet IMO (as I haven't sailed all of them, this is a tidge biased....)! she is very artfully decorated, and I love the layout. a little hard to navigate at first, but after a day or two it was no problem. I enjoyed being on a bigger ship with lots of room. and nothing we encountered was less than exceptional.

Our staff was wonderful, the entertainment and food good, the friends we made we had a blast with-she is just a very, very Fun Ship!

Hi Michelle: Yep, I agree that Valor is a great ship, and you'll enjoy the Eastern iten. If it doesn't work out price wise, try the Glory sailing May 24th instead. Same basic iten, but sails out of Port Canaveral instead. I was looking at the exact same time frame and cruise iten as you are, and found the Glory to be a little bit better for the lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) and me. The ship is almost identical, (both Conquest class) and the iten almost the same too, and the price is the last reasonable price before the big jump for summer. Come on along!

I had to pick the Valor on the 14th as it had to be a time when I could cruse that my son was off on one of his three 2-week summer periods with his dad.

I'll be making the deposit tomorrow. While I'm still a bit depressed that I had to cancel my 4 nighter on Fascination for this June, I'm glad I decided to go for a 7-nighter NEXT June! Now I'll have to bring a BIG suitcase and check it on the plane, in addition to a carry-on. Will have to re-work my packing list to allow for more items!

Michelle:

Also...

In March this year in St. Thomas we just took a cab to Saphhire Beach. It was pretty there. Did the same in St. Maarten to Orient Beach, which was also gorgeous but topless and further down nude.

Last March a different group of friends and I did the Castaway Girl sail and snorkel in St. Thomas through Carnival and had a blast. And we did a tour of St. Maarten to both sides of the island, which was pretty cool.

I'm sorry you had to cancel this year, but you will NOT be disappointed for your choice!

And on packing, I have gotten to where I take two suitcases...my big one for my clothes and stuff and a smaller one for my shoes!

cutiecat, thanks for the photos! I just got done downloading a bunch from webshots. I am going to aim for the sightseeing excursions as I can go to a beach any time around Chicago - with all the lakes I have access to. Also, I have a bad leg and really can't walk for hours unless I'm willing to suffer the painful consequences. The "tour of St. Maarten to both sides of the island' sounds great! I love the water but am not comfortable with the idea of leaving my id, credit card, etc, in a locker while I go do scuba or snorkel or something like that.

I'm glad to hear everyone has had great experiences on Valor. I've also read some of the reviews posted in the review section and I'm really excited about it! I wish I could go sooner, but I have to plan it when my son's with his dad. I have no wish to travel in the December holiday season or during "spring break."

My TA booked room 2211 on the port side, right near the front of the ship. it's an upper/lower bunk room which is fine as it's just for me and it will have two portholes! So I'm so happy!!!! Now I wish I could find a photo of that room.

Michelle,

As soon as I find my Valor photo CD I'll be glad to post some more if you want. Those are the ones my friend had on her webpage I have some amazing shots of the ship. I also forgot to mention that while I generally have no interest in doing the same ship more than once I would get back on the Valor in a heartbeat.

The French/Dutch tour in St. Maarten was interesting. I learned all sorts of things I was able to share with my friends this time

Michelle, you chose a great ship to sail on, we love the Valor. I loved the decor, all the staff members we came in contact with were friendly, helpful and fun, the food was good and overall cruise experience rates a 10 from our family. We have sailed on the Valor 3 times and wouldn't hesitate to sail on her again. Since I live in Orlando, I'm booked on the Glory in October sailing out of Port Canaveral, another great ship to sail on (in my estimation). The only Carnival ship that we liked better was the Liberty but only by a slim margin.

Hope you enjoy the Valor as much as we have.

Valor does have shipwide WiFi access. It is not cheap and not as fast as you might be used to.

Here is a price list:
http://www.carnival.com/CMS/FAQs/On_...net_Cafes.aspx

There is always a special the first night where you get some extra minutes with any package and some other "specials" during the cruise.

They also always have a drawing for a bunch of minutes but I've never won or known anyone who did. But you can't win if you don't play.

I've been on Valor twice, but not on the Eastern route. I think the Western route is as good as it gets for me. But that could be just me.

cutiecat, thanks for the extra photos!

I gave my TA my credit card for the deposit so I'm all booked! I have heard so many good things from you all as well as read some great reviews to let me know I made a great choice for my first week-long cruise!

Though it was perfect for a first cruise, I feel like I barely got my feet wet on Sensation and I'm anxious to do everything at least once on Valor.

also, I noticed that at one end of the ship there is a lower level that appears to have some telescopes. Is that so? If so, what deck is that on and is it open to all passengers or just a spot for the crew?

Michelle, there is an area at the front of the ship that is reserved exclusively for staff members. Go to the Empress Deck (#7) and walk as far forward as you can, there are doors on the Port and Starboard side that lead out to an observation deck. It's a nice spot to watch the ship approach and leave a harbor.
