My husband and I are taking our first cruise Aug. 21st to Cozumel, Mexico. What shore excursions do you recommend ( or not recommend, lol). And if we choose not to book an excusion then what is there for us to do when we port? I would appreciate the feedback! Thanks!
We did the Fury Sail and Snorkel the first time we were there. Nice sail, snorkel time, complimentary drinks (rum punch i think), beach time with lunch available to purchase and a quick horseback ride if you choose.
We swam with the dolphins the second time. Very nice park to visit (Chankanaab) even if you don't swim with the dolphins. They have other things to do there like snorkel, swimming pool, nature walk, etc.
I highly recommend either although there is a big difference in price - almost double the price to swim with dolphins but well worth it. Getting in the park is only a few bucks though.
Life's a Beach ... enjoy it on a Cruise!
If you decide you just want a beach day take a cab to Paradise Beach. No entrance fee. It is very nice with free chairs and umbrella, food, bar, and restrooms available. Water toys available at extra cost. Cab cost aprox $15 each way. Plenty of taxis available to bring you back to the ship.
I did the dolphin swim and snorkle at Chaankanaab park in February. It was amazing to be in the water with the dolphins and to get them to do tricks. The best part was the boogie board ride and pectoral fin ride--totally awesome (Dude!)!!!!!
It is pricy and some would say get a cab and do it on your own, however, it is done in groups of eight people and if you have odd numbers you'll have to wait. I paid $169 but was more than satisfied, and I got some cool underwater shots of the dolphins with my underwater camera!!!

OMG... Dolphins for sure! I took my at the time 8yr niece. When I went there were 3 tours to choose from. The most expensive was in deep water and I felt that was to advanced for the 8yr old. The cheapest you didn't really get in the water with the Dolphins. You learned about them and got to pet them. The one we choose was the one in the middle range. We were in the water on a platform with the dolphins and the trainer for about an hour. Oh... I had just turned 50 and I am a very large person well over 300 with a knee problem. There were stairs going into the water and a hand rail on both sides. I had no problem and they even had a live vest to fit me. And the trainer was very good to our pitite 8yr old. A memory for a lifetime. It was awesome!
