Has anyone ever packed 5 people in one cabin? Just how bad is it? My husband and I plus 3 boys age 10,8, and 5. Are we crazy or what? We just changed from a 5 day Carribean cruise with 2 rooms connecting to a 7 day cruise in 1 room for just $35.00 more.

I'm booked for a category 4a. The PVP told me that except for the penthouse, all the rooms are the same size. We will have a king bed, 2 upper bunks and a rollaway bed. I figured that we would only need the room to sleep and not much more. Spending $35.00 more for 2 more days at sea seemed worth the cramped quarters!
The most we have had is 3 in a standard balcony cabin. It was close but do able. And my friends and I had a Penthouse suite with 3 on the Paradise. We were really excited. However, I was not comfortable. The pull out bed was not comfortable. Mainly because their was not place for the sheets to be tucked in and the first time I moved I was on leather-ett. I asked for a roll away because I had seen one int he hall. I slept well on it. And I am a ++++size lady. So I am sure the kids will be fine. You will be snug as a bug in a rug but I think you and the kids will have a blast.

We did the same thing twice on the former Carnival Jubilee when our sons were 13, 11 and 5 and had no problems. We kept the bunks down the whole time so they older boys always had a place to hang out when we were in the cabin but they were out of the cabin most of the time. I would get ready first then they would take turns. I don't remember it being crowded and we layered their shirts on hangers sometimes 4 deep. they had little "going to grandma" suitcases that they kept on their beds or in a corner with their underwear, shorts and misc things. Just be organized and it will work. We never use one but many people recommend the garment shoe holder that hangs over the door. This might be useful to hold their things too. Have a great time, enjoy them and make great memories. Ours are all grown up (32, 30 and 23) and we miss those days!

I think you will be ok - Is it great - no. I had my 2 boys, my husband and I in the cabin before. Only formal night was a little tricky. I made them get ready first and leave the cabin. As I remember, the dirty clothes also seem to be an issue. Keep the boys organized and do not spend that much time in the cabin. I had the cabin stewad store most of our luggage. Have fun!

If you really want to you and them can do it. 8) I would get two rooms or a suite but you are the ones that must be together. Will Carny let you get a room for 5 ???
For getting ready at night.. I suggest taking advantage of the spa.. You can shower and get ready there or your spouse can. The bathroom/shower is small. only one person at a time.

You should be fine with the age of your kids. We have 2 kids, 14 & 16, and we had plenty of room. I dont know if I would want a extra cot in the room though. I would have the youngest camp out in our bed and the older ones in the bunk beds. Up to you. You should have a ball and you really dont spend alot of time in the cabin to be honest. If you find yourself crowded getting ready, do it in shifts...there is plenty to do and see on the ship while others are getting ready.
here is a link for pics of our 4a cabin with the bathroom too.
I forgot to mention about the rollaway bed; it was set up only at night while we were at dinner. It was taken down and stored in the morning when our cabin steward made up our cabin while we were at breakfast. The window sill on the Jubilee was so big and deep, the 5 year old used that area as his play space. Great memories!
