Default flying in to anchorage - question

Americian express suggested I get tickets ASAP as possible for my trip to Alaska next year as they have limited seats to be used with 'points' so I booked the flight up to Anchorage. We sail out of Whittier. I am not familiar with that area AT ALL and need to know - flying in to Whittier, where do we stay for the night until we sail the next day? Hotel I mean. Whittier? Anchorage? How do we get to the terminal the next day, etc etc etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Whittier is about 1 1/2 hours from Anchorage.

You will be staying the night in Anchorage.
Holiday Inn Express near the airport was nice and about $155 a night in 2005. We stayed at the Hilton downtown and it was $255.00.

You have several options for transportation to Whittier.

We chose the Carnival Transfer which at the time was $45.00 a person and left from the convention center next to the Hilton downtown.

Another option is to take the train down. Not sure of the price, but it is a pretty ride and I don't think it is to unreasonable.

I don't know how to describe Whittier except to say that it is TINY.
The road into it has to go through a mountain that is only ONE WAY and just big enough for the bus that carried us.

You will have a wonderful cruise.

We also booked very early to use our points for 4 of us and I am glad we did.
