How long does first cruise count toward cruise credit
I did my first cruise a few years back on the Holiday. To be honest, I can't remember the exact year but I think it might have been 1999 (I could probably check with Carnival to make sure). Does anyone know how long that first cruise would count toward my number of cruise credits with Carnival? I think there is a limit of a few years, but not sure what it is. Thanks

i'd call, but i doubt its just a few years. I see people here yippieing the fact that they finally had platinum and they had been traveling a long time.
The one problem is, does carnival have you as a past guest? They might not, and unless you have reciepts from that cruise, your out of luck if its not on your profile. Always check when you get home to make sure you have credit for your cruise. Mistakes happen
What Nursey says is true. There is no limit, but you'll have to prove that you made the cruise, and this can be done in almost any way. I, for instance, got them to count several really old cruises, when I came up with the old "sign-n-sail" cards, that I'd stuck on a bulletin board, and forgot about. I've heard of others who faxed them the copy of their "boarding photo" in front of the "Mardi-Gras" sign. Bottom line is, if you have any proof at all that you took the cruise, they'll count it.

They didn't count my first couple off cruises - the last of those couple being 1980 (and I had a picture). However......I have since then been on several and my next one is the 'platinium' cruise! YIPEE!!!! The silver card!! With perks (I'm gonna love the laundry perk!)

I just left my first Platinium cruise. Platinium rocks!!! There are so many perks that it is almost too much attention.
The one perk I didn't use was the laundry service. It was only a 4 day cruise and my cruise clothes are very bright and colorful and I didn't know what temperature they wash in and how much care they take in getting the clothes clean. Hence, I just didn't bother with the laundry service. However, the Platinum debarkation perk was awesome. I left my cabin at 7:30 to go to the main theater to meet other Platinium self-debarkators. I was walking down the street away from the ship at 7:50. In fact, once I walked out of my cabin, I literally never stopped moving except for the 15 seconds it took for Customs to scan my passport. Same deal with embarkation.

My experience has been that the laundry service is OK if you need it but nothing special. They do not use fabric softener or whatever else makes the clothes smell fresh and clean. It's just a basic wash and fold good for Tshirts or underware but not really suitable for nicer clothes.
Unfortunately all ships do not handle Platinum debark in the same manner. Some will actually escort you off the ship first while others just lump Platinum Members in with the self-debark people and don't seem to care that you do not get priority debarcation.
Is there any information on cruise credits on their website? I've never heard of keeping credits before. How does it work?
basically, if im not mistaken, you need 10 cruises to get platinum status. Its main thing is embarkation and debarkation. You get to basically cut out all the lines. Big fat perk in my book! Plus free wash and fold...but other than that, nothing real exciting....i havent even heard of any great discounts for platy members, but like i said i could be wrong. We'll only have 3 under our belt this Jan, probably take us another 5 years before were there with 10.
I had noticed that they did not include our first cruise either and that could be that I booked through CAA. All cruises after that I've booked through Carnival and found I get better deals/upgrades. Anyway all I did was show them our booking number/paperwork from CAA showing that we had indeed taken a Carnival cruise and they added it to our credit list. We're booked on the Legend 5 Oct 08 after that we only have 2 more to go to get our 10 in. Note they must be at least a 7 day cruise to count.

You might want to recheck that info. If correct that is a recent change.
Nope,,,they ALL count! That's the excuse Carnival gave me when I questioned why they required 10 cruises to get to Platinum, when most other lines only required 5. They said that many of their passengers take shorter cruises ie: 2,3,4,and 5 day, so they made the requirement 10 cruises. I suggested that they count the number of days sailed instead, but they didn't go for that. Once you get Platinum, you'll REALLY enjoy the perks. Lots of stuff, and respect from the crew that you don't hear about much. It's worth digging up old boarding passes, and pictures if you have to, to get to 10.
