Default Is Freedom really that bad?

We are looking heavily at cruising the Freedom next October, but all the reviews are negative. We have been on the Glory and a couple other Carnival cruises before, so we are familar with the "carnival" way of doing things. However, all the negative reviews worry me...is the ship really that horrible??

No, I spent 14 fun filled days on the ship and the service was excellent, the food tasty, and the decor kind of gaudy but in a good way. I loved the fish and chips and the mongolia BBQ station. I don't know why it got such bad reviews. However, some of the reviews appear to be repeats. Saltwater in the pools is to salty are you kidding me.

Where are you guys reading these reviews? I leave for her in about 95 days! I hope she isn't bad! Please don't tell me someone gave a bad review because the pool water was salty.

We always have a good time too, I am not concerned enough to not book. Just worried that Carnival is losing it's "charm"

I don't see how a ship that is just over a year old can be that bad. She is but a baby when compared to the Celebration or Holiday!!!!!!

I'm set to go on her in April of next year and when I booked it was selling so fast that in three days the cabin I wanted was gone and the other choice was too. I settled for a 8C cabin!!!! I checked to see what was left and even less now...I can assume the sailing I am going on is Spring Break or something for students (April 19th)

I am going out of Port Everglades for the first time, it should be interesting!!

We had a great time in Jan and will be going again on the Freedom. Don't worry to much about reviews , you don't know who wrote it and everybody is different. We have been on most of the CCL ships and if we went by some of the reviews well just WOW. Some you must just read between the lines. You make the cruise what you want it to be, not somebody that was on the same ship weeks or months ago.

We were on the Freedom about a month after it's inaugural cruise - May 2007 for 12 days and loved it.

There are always "nay" sayers on here. She is a great ship, my second favorite among Carnival.

Nothing negative to report on the Freedom. The ship and service were top shelf. Some people don't like the decor but thats a personal preference and nothing that would keep you from having a great cruise.

The Freedom is great. I went on a 7 day Western Carribean out of Miami on the Freedom and loved the ship. You couldn't even tell it was moving!

This all making me feel so much better about this ship. I am so excited to book, I already picked out the cabins I want I just hate it when people can only see the negatives of a ship. But with the food comments, I did notice that the food on the Inspiration in 2006 was better than the food on the Glory in 2007. Has anyone else noticed this??

Where food is concerned, sometimes you run across an "off" week in the ktichen....but nothing that would ruin a cruise for us.

One of the things that I like about Carnival is their consistancy from ship to ship. I eat the same thing on every cruise (boring, I know)....so I have a pretty good idea of the "beef" fares.

I can tell you that the New York Strip or Sirloin or whatever they are calling it now...it will dry and tough. The rest of the beef is fine.

The Ribeye steak in the dining room on Freedom was terrfic. So tender you could cut it with a butter knife. My hubby loves the creamy mushroom soup.

However, stay far away from the diet pumpkin pie. It's not like a real pumpkin pie but more like a pumkin favored gelatin. That pie is the only really bad food I had on the Freedom. The waiters got me the apple pie and that was wonderful so even that small food problem was resolved. We had great service in the dining.
