Default Midnight Buffets cancelled??????

Someone on another board said that the midnight buffet on Carnival cruises was cancelled as of last week. Is it true?

To my mind, if this is not true, it should be.... this is where the lines could save money big time. How much of that food, really gets eaten, We know that it gets recycled, the next day in cold salads, deserts, etc, but how about eliminating that, instead of charging for other incidentals, as some other lines are doing..like a better cut of steak... maybe they could just have a smaller desert buffet....jmho

I agree, while its wonderful to see, how many people actually eat that late?? It could be a huge savings for the cruiselines to eliminate it.

Actually, It was reported on this board before reported anywhere else. I happened to be on board the Conquest on September 1st when it went into effect.

When we were on the Triumph two weeks ago (9/14 - 9/21), there was a Midnight Mexican Buffet served during the late night Deck party. Is this something different than what you're all talking about? If so, I'm all for abolishing it - the food gave me a horrid tummy-ache later in the night (even though I skipped dinner to eat that late...hmmm, maybe that was the problem).

I have to agree with the others,,,with rare exceptions. Us "older" cruisers will remember when there was a "Midnight Buffet" every night on a cruise. That was truly a waste of time, food, energy and most everything else, but it was tradition. At least they have cut it down to only one night a week, (on most cruises) so IMO that isn't so bad. Usually something like the "Mexican Buffet" or the "Chocolate Buffet" (GREAT), some other "theme buffet", or "Grand Buffet". Actually, the "one night a week" midnight buffet is kind of nice.

All the cruises I have been on, I am never went to the midnight buffett. I am always too tired, too hungry, or busy. So I wouldnt miss it if it was gone.

We always loved the "Grand Gala Midnight Buffet" and loved taking pictures. Since we dine early, we usually would eat a few finger foods and some fruit. It was not held on our August 31 sailing on the Sensation and we really missed it. I could certainly handle that much better than a Mexican buffet at midnight.

I always enjoyed the midnight buffet. I went to take pictures and to eat. So sad it's gone.
