Default MIA to Port of Miami

We are looking at several cruises out of MIA all with Sat departures. The problem is, I'm not seeing many flights arriving at MIA before 2PM and that seems a little close for comfort to me. Leaving on Friday and doing an overingiht is a little difficult for us. What is the latest you would arrive at MIA for a 4 o'clock departure?

Thanks,

If you are leaving out of Port Everglades then you want to fly into Ft Lauderdale. The airport is right next to the port.

Miami airport is a good $60 cab ride from Port Everglades.

Bob If you don't have any flights coming into Mia before 2pm I would not risk it since you are flying the same day. Try to get a flight to Mia first thing in the morning. If you can't find any then do fly into FLL.
I have flown into FLL a few times while cruising out of Mia because of the same situation you are in flights coming into Mia around 1pm and if it is a delayed flight on top of that it can mean trouble.

Each time I did that route FLL to Mia the ride cost me $80. plus tip each way. So you will have to tack on that expense. If I was flying same day I would want to be in Mia by 10am just in case. The airline delays are horrible at least in my area.

Hope you find a flight that works!

I wouldn't get a flight that comes in later than 11 or 12. It is too much to risk.

I would be paniced about missing my cruise if I came in at 2.

I relieve all stress by flying in the night before and I feel great after a good nights sleep boarding the ship. Bob

Me too. I usually fly in a few days before becuase it is nice not to have to rush. Also if there are any flight delays you are covered.

I also tend to fly in a day early. It sure beats catching a 6:00 am flight. And thanks for reminding me, I have to book my FLL hotel next Saturday.

Bob try to look into flying the nite before. Remeber the $160. (approx.) for the fll to mia and back can be put towards the hotel. That is of course if the Friday nite flights to Mia are not overpriced.

Used to fly the same day until 3 cruises ago now I would never fly same day. Used to book the 7am flight to mia or fll which means waking up at 3am by the time I got to the ship I was so tired.

Thanks for the reminder everyone I must book my FLL hotel today.

Paul - you busted me, I did mean the Port of Miami and changed the title of the post.

Thanks everybody. You confirmed my suspicions. I've looked at airports within about a four hour range from Indy (CVG, ORD, MDW and whatever Columbus OH is) and can't seem to find an early enough arrival. We are looking at spring break week and things don't look so good for Friday night either. I'll keep hunting or put a TA to work on it.
