Default Half Moon Cay, Bahamas

We will porting at Half Moon Cay on the Liberty in Aug 2009. We haven't been there before. I posted a note on the excursions board but somehow I feel I will get a better response from the great Carnival cruisers here. We are looking at not taking any excursions but just soaking up some sun and surf. Will we miss anything? I know a lot of you have been there. Any words of wisdom will be most welcome. Thanks!

We have been to Half Moon Cay a few times and loved it every time. The beach is right as soon as you get off the tender and there are chairs and the most beautiful sand. We did the stingray tour there one time and thought that it was great but not as good as grand cayman. We have wandered the island a bit but were quite happy to enjoy the beach and the incredible water. That is one of our favorite stops of all times, a nice inexpensive, incredible beach day where lunch comes to the beach for you free of charge.

Default Halfmoon Cay

Have to agree w/2littletime!

It's a beach stop for sure. We went on a cruise that did Grand Turk and Halfmoon Cay, now if you like beaches thats the cruise for you.

There is no need to book a tour. You can wander around and the lunch just off the beach is nice to.

You have plenty of beach space w/lots of chairs to sit back and enjoy the view of the ship and the water is great.

Half Moon key is the best beach stop of my cruises. No shore excursion ticket needed....just get off the ship.

Since this is a small private island, there isn't really anything to see that you need to do an excursion for. You can do activities such a horseback riding in the ocean as an excursion, but you can also kick back and enjoy a "fantasy class" beach.
