Destiny 9/17/09 Flight?

Might be sailing on Carnival Destiny out of Miami on Sept 17th for a quick 4 night get away. Okay, so here is my question. If we arrive in FLL at 11:30 on embarkation day, will that leave enough room for error? We prefer to fly down the night before, but things are not going to allow it this time around. Note, this would be a non-stop flight (ie no connection to worry about).

Also, do you think if we do self debarkation that we can make a 10:30am flight out of MIA? I think we can make these flights work. IT WILL BE PUSHING IT FOR SURE! But I just wanted some additional opinions, so please blast away ... haha.

The arrival is not too bad, I too like to arrive the day before to avoid stress but as long as the airline stays close to on-time, it’s about 30-45 minutes to deplane and pick up checked luggage and about a 45 minute taxi ride (Around $45) to the sea port. Allow 5-10 minutes to get a car or shuttle. You can go online ( http://www.floridalimo.com/ ) and have a private car driver ($70) waiting for you at the luggage carousels. Or arrange a ride in advanced on their shuttle ($21 / person). Boarding usually closes about 3:30pm for a 5:00 departure.

Making a 10:30 flight out of Miami is unlikely. You need to be at the airport by 9:30 to check bags and work your way through security. If seen the Miami port take until 8:30 or 9:00 to clear the ship, then you still have to go through customs. If none of the later flights work can you add a day to your trip and return the next morning?

Thanks for confirming what I was thinking about the 10:30am flight. I just want to get away. We have a beautiful daughter that is about to turn one. My in-laws are willing to keep her if most of the time is over a weekend. I was just hoping to squeeze in a 4 night cruise as opposed to a 3 night cruise. My wife wants to be back ASAP to see our daughter. Getting back home at 5 or 7pm will not work for her. I guess the trip may get delayed to another time. The price was good and I just wanted to get away with my DW for a few days just the two of us.
