Smile First time cruisers, of course some questions!

We are going on the 4 day out of Jacksonville,FL on May 10 on the Carnival Fascination for our 15th wedding anniversary. We've never been on one and of course I'm excited about it! I'd like to get in a visit at the spa - does anyone know how much services there cost? Also, out on the water - how cool would it get in the evenings in May? We have an idea of what we'd like to do in Key West and Nassau but we welcome any suggestions for good places to visit/things to do while there. Something that is worth the money to do. That's all I can think of right now, I'm sure I'll have more questions as the date gets closer.

I've only cruised once before so I have limited knowledge. :-)
If you've already booked your cruise, go to the Cruise Deals, Discount Cruises, and Cruise Vacations ? Carnival Cruise Lines. The go to Cruise Details and then "Plan Activities". It will give you an option to click on the spa and you can see all of the prices.

We are going to Nassau in December and plan on swimming with the dolphins.

Hopefully you will get some more knowledgable responses from veteran cruisers.
Hope you have a marvelous cruise!

Hi Kaoldt,

Happy Anniversary and congratulations on the first cruise. Spa services can range from $50 to over $300 with most in the $100 range.

In regard to temperature I have never had any problems with it being cold in the Caribbean or the Atlantic, around the Bahamas. I have to qualify that by saying I live in Minnesota and my idea of cool is different than someone from a southern climate. If high 60's and low 70's is cool then you should bring a sweater or wrap to wear on deck. The air conditioning in some areas of the ship will be the place where you may be overly cool.

Key West is a fun place with museums, bars, great architecture and just a great place to walk around.

Nassau is ok. You can go to the Atlantis resort and casino and take in the aquarium or do a little gambling. Swim with the dolphins or browse for "stuff" at the Straw Market. You can also do some sailing or glass bottom or party boat tours.

It would help to know what things you enjoy doing. Feel free to ask questions!

Take care,
Mike

We've never cruised to the Keys but go there often. In Key West, I have a couple of recommendations that I'll make not knowing too much about your interests. Rent scooters or golf carts and cruise around the place. Grab brunch or lunch at the Blue Heaven (very interesting ambiance including the famous Key West free range chickens). Check out Hemmingway's House. Have to take the obligatory picture at the southernmost point (decent walk from the port but can be done). Have a chocolate covered slice of frozen Key Lime pie from Blonde Giraffe. If you're there later in the day, check out the suset celebration at Mallory Square (it gets crowded).

Thanks so much for answering! We're in Michigan, so I know cold! I just want to make sure I have what I need in case evenings are cool on the water. In Key West hubby wants the obligatory Southernmost point photo and he'd like to see the Mel Fisher Museum. I'd like to do the straw market in Nassau - I know it's probably a tourist trap but I still want to do it. Other than that we haven't really got much of an idea as to what we can do. I'm sure the dolphin thing is pricey, isn't it?

I am very cold natured, myself and find that certain areas of the ship are always a little to cold for me. The theatre/lounge where the shows are held and daytime events such as talks, bingo, trivia etc. are held and the dining room are cold. I carry a wrap such as a sweater or pashmina with me on all cruises. They sell some nice ones in the gift shop on the ships for about $10. My first cruise I was so cold that (before I found the pashminas in the gift shop) I even carried a beach towel from the cabin and thought I was going to need to take the Carnival robe with me.
