Lost our passports - just reapplied for new ones but ...
I'm wondering if they'll give us new ones since we lost the first ones. We've moved a few times in the past 10 yrs & I have a feeling they're right under our noses & we'll find them when the new ones come but I'm wondering if we'll have a problem, anybody know? Thanks in advance.
From the US Passport guide site: If you need it quickly, do the expedited way.
Lost Passport Replacement Guide:
You can replace a lost passport much in the same way you acquire a new one. The only difference is that you will need to report the loss and fill out an extra form. The same is true if your passport was stolen. Being the case, it will take the same amount of time as it does to obtain a new one unless you expedite your lost passport replacement. If your passport was stolen, you may want to read our tips for preventing passport problems. Be sure to check out the important notes about reporting a lost of stolen passport.

The best place to keep your passports is with your banking statements, insurance info, warranty info. All thodse essential documents you need to have stored in one convenient location....Me, I keep it in my desk with my BC and SIN card (Canadian version of social security number card).
I learned a BIG less to NOT carry around your BC, SIN, or passport around with you two years ago.....ya, someone stole my purse with that and everything else in it...Thankfully the IDIOTS who stole my purse only wanted cash and nothing else...oooh and they also wanted a sunglass case too cuz that was the only other thing missing from my purse..change purse with $40 in cash/change and sunglass case......
Now my passport/BC/SIN stay at home and a expired passport is with me if anyone wants to verify my ID when I use my credit card (many places now ask for photo ID when using credit cards).

We have a small safe in the house & hubby & I decided to keep all important documents & papers in there from now on. I KNOW we'll find those passports now that we've paid $302 (yeowch!) to replace them. Expensive lesson to learn. But I was a bit worried that the passport office would refuse to replace them, I've read that they don't have to do that.
