Take my advice - avoid this ship! This ship has the most annoying floor plan. There is no easy way of getting around the ship. Even after a week long cruise - we still felt lost upon disembarkment!

Destiny first sailed in 1996, I believe. We sailed on her during her first year.
The trick to the Destiny and all her sister ships with the same layout is if you want to go fore or aft in public areas, others than Lido Deck, you have to use Deck 5 and 6 to go across.
On Deck 4, the galley is between the two dining rooms, which cuts off access.
Once you get that "trick" it's no more difficult to get around than any ship.
I loved the Destiny. Once you get the hang of it, it is not a problem. It is DH's favorite ship to date.
We loved the Destiny too. We got used to going across Deck 5 by the second day. While it's not my most favorite ship, I'd cruise on it again in a heartbeat!
I had a great time on my last cruise on the destiny. The floor plan at first had me angry but once you realize its split and can remember you're good to go. The ship was clean, I enjoyed the serenity deck...for the price you can't go wrong .
I have news for you - all of the Carnival ships have pretty much identical floorplans.
The trick to any ship is to figure one way to get to things and use that all the time.
I am not sure what problem the poster above was having - but it is something that happens on many ships.
I agree carnival does have some oddball design things, but nothing to ruin your vacation.
I know it was hard to find the Internet cafe on Destiny. They have that odd room below the nightclub dancefloor that looks like no one ever goes in there - that's where it is.
Then the is the aft dining room which on ALL carnival ships is isolated on the bottom deck. Impossible to find unless you go down the last set of elevators - then voila - there it is.

I havent posted in a long while so when I saw this post I wanted to chime in.
I'm sailing on the Destiny on Sept 1 for a short Labor Day cruise - to say goodbye to summer and hello fall. I have read mixed reviews on this ship but we were docked along side her last year and she looked great. For once I can't wait until September.
Yes!! All Carnival ship's have pretty much the same layout. We cruised on the Destiny's "sister ship" Triumph in January of 2010. The galley on deck 4 I believe it is, separates the two dining rooms, that is a pain but easy enough to go up a couple decks go over and down again. The majority of things to do are along the same decks as the earlier Carnival ships and can be easily figured out. Good luck, I just booked my folks on the Destiny for a pre-Thanksgiving cruise in November....you know, just in case they need to fill up on food before Thanksgiving lol
Booked
NCL Sun - November 2011
Disney Dream - December 2012 *Honeymoon*
Cruised
Monarch OTS - June 2010
Carnival Triumph - January 2010
Carnival Glory - April 2007
Carnival Inspiration - July 2006
NCL Star - April 2003

Is Carnival different when they post there room assignments? We've always had our room number after final payment, but still haven't found out yet for Carnival.
