I have never purchased travel insurance before so I was looking for some suggestions. We are cruising on The Miracle in July so snow is not a factor. My big issue is my mother. She is 85 and not in the best of health so insurance for medical emergenies is probably a good idea. Carnival offers it for about $140. Is that a good deal and does it cover most problems? Who else offers it? Thanks in advance for any help...

I suggest talking to your travel agent and ask what, if any, travel insurance they sell or recommend.
Otherwise I would go to insuremytrip.com and compare policies.
Medical evacuation, pre-existing condition waiver and trip reimbursement are the most important things to look for.
The Carnival insurance is the last option. Cruise line insurance insures the cruise line as much, or more, than it insures you.
Take care,
Mike

For sure, do some shopping around for travel insurance, many to choose from...I would NOT travel without it for many reasons, but the big one, for emergency travel. Our regular insurance does not cover that, and that bill could run thousands of dollars....I have used CSA Travel Protection for years and they seem to have decent prices and good customer service....
