Default Millennium/Eastern Changes

Since there are so many messages under this heading, figured I'd start a new one. Called friends at Newport News Shipbuilding. They seemed to resent any idea that Millennium might still be having a problem. According to them, they fixed it! Heard from Celebrity that Millennium is having no problem which would cause any change in ports-of-call or limit the time in these ports. I take all this with a grain of salt. If anyone is aboard Millennium this week who can answer this question, please post whether any problem played havoc with time you had in port. We are concerned since we have made reservations on our own for several shore excursions which could be affected adversely by any problem which delays arrival time in port or limits that time considerably. Know many others are probably in the same fix Just wish I had informationn for everyone from NN Shipbuilding, but fear my sources there are holding their cards closer to the chest than usual.

Angie:

The problems the Millenium is having with her Mermaid pods is not why she was in
drydock in November. This is a NEW PROBLEM> Her Nov visit was to place a "baffle" on her stern end to reduce vibration.

If you hop over to the Celebrity board on cruise critic.. and look under the Posting for Millenium Itinerary changes... there is a post which tells what time the ship arrived this week. But I suppose there really can't be any guarantee of what time you will arrive.........geesh....even of ships without problems!

according to angie's sources, NN, while the ship was in dry dock the azipod's were inspected as well.
Why were they inspected if they weren't having a problem.. The NN website did not indicate where they found a problem and/or fixed it. The only news at their website was a news release prior to the drydock.

Just read a post from someone who says he works on the Millennium. He said that they got into San Juan at 2 pm. I hope this is right. I just wish we could all get straight answers from the cuise companies. They are always so evasive! They will lie through there teeth up until the day they announce that a cruise in cancelled! I think that is horrible customer relations! I just want to know the truth so we can make plans. Either way, I AM going to have fun on this cruise, if it kills me!

My husband and I just returned from the Mille (1/7 cruise) -- here is the new itinerary:
San Juan was 1pm to 8pm -- now 5pm to 10pm
arrived in San Juan early around 3pm
Catalina was 7am to 6pm -- now 11am to 6pm
St. Tom was 10am to 6pm -- now 9am to 5pm
Nassau was 11am to 7pm -- now 12:30pm to 6pm

The one thing we notice as soon as we got out to sea was that other ships were passing us during the evening and continued to notice this during our trip but at the time we didn't know about the pod problem as the ship was moving slower than we thought she should have. We just thought that maybe there was no space at the docks up ahead and had to kill time. The change in time was a problem at all with exception of San Juan. It felt we were at sea for two whole days. Loved the cruise and would do it again. Enjoy your trip.

feel free to email me.
