Default Returned from the Galaxy 48hrs...welcome questions

Just returned from the Southern Caribbean excursion this past week on the Galaxy, and would welcome your questions about the itinerary, food, staff, islands, etc.

A very robust itinerary, with lots of island hopping and unlimited opportunities to explore each island via land, sea or in some cases by air. The ship is splendid, she has the unique quality of being a megaship with over 1800 passengers, yet feeling intimate and uncrowded (except on the day at sea, when the "chair hogs" come out)...still lots of nooks and crannies to avoid the chair hogs.

The dining experiences are varied and the overall quality is quite good considering the staff are preparing over 9,000 meals per DAY! Staff helpful, available, and trying to honor their logo of offering service "beyond expectations". Entertainment staff works hard at offering a pleasant evening's activity. Music was almost always available....try to make it up to the 11th deck for the sail away parties with Vibz playing as you leave the quaint port cities.

Shore excursions are plentiful and varied....a note of caution to the more adventuresome, sometimes the acitivity you plan to do on your own is not always available, because the cruise line has purchased ALL of the available spaces on catamarans, speed boats, etc.

Look forward to hearing from folks who are scheduled to cruise with the Galaxy in the next several weeks.

We are leaving March 31 on the Galaxy. Are there still 2 formal nights and 2 informal nights. What were some of the things on the daily schedule on the ship. Where did you find good shopping bargains.
I can imagine the food is very good? Any trouble with seasickness.

Glad to hear that you had a great cruise! We'll be sailing the Galaxy on APril 7th. I would like to know what shore excursions or beaches you went to and would recommend for each island. Also--is there a 24 hour pizza bar??

There's no 24 hour food availability on Celebrity except for perhaps room service.

GALAXY Follow-up

Staff were helpful and attentive, especially in the dining room and the Oasis Buffet. The room cabin staff were adequate but not exceptional. Recommend you consider ship sponsored excursions for sea activities, as I indicated the cruise line has a tendency to buy up all the available spaces on catamarans, speed boats, jolly roger sailing ships etc. thus making it somewhat difficult for the individual passengers venturing out on their own.

As for the individual islands, each cruiser has to decide what they like best...history, topography, museums, people, culture, water, beaches etc.
We loved St. Lucia, especially the scuba diving and the lush nature of the island, had a similarly positive experience on Barbados. St. Croix was a little sleepy, but we did find a nice snorkle trip to Buck Island that is worth considering.

More than enough food available almost 24-7, pizza was available late afternoons and early evenings....between the early riser breakfast, full breakfast, breakfast buffet, coffee hour, lunch, lunch buffet, afternoon burgers pizza and hot dogs, high tea, late afternoon yogurt, formal dinner, late night buffet , etc. etc. etc. there is no shortage of dining opportunities.

The most important thing to pack for your cruise is a positive attitude...everything else is commentary after that....ENJOY!!
