best deals - finding a movado in the caribbean

i'm trying to find my boyfriend a movado, i'm going on the s. caribbean galaxy (aruba, st. thomas, barbados) cruise and i wanted to know if anyone's bought watches while on their cruise and if so, which place gave you the best deal.
also, doesn't the cruise give a discount ONE DAY on their shipboard stores still?

It's important to know the prices at home before you go. Compare apples to apples, as far as models. Movado has many different models, so stick with those you know.
Unlike some brands of watches, the shops in the Caribb will negotiate a substantial amount off their asking price for Movados. Be ready to bargain. Even leave the shop if you want to put pressure on the prices. You can always go back!

I've purchased several Movado's in St. Thomas... all at H. Stern downtown. They are a world wide company with a sterling reputation... and, they are competitive and will bargain too. Kuki's advice is well taken. Be sure you know the exact model you want before you leave the U.S. On average, I saved close to 50% off the best prices I saw here.

yes i am looking ALL over and know exactly what model and price we want.
what i'm concerned about it going to st thomas, buying one, and then sailing to aruba, and finding something better.

this is my itinerary in order:

san juan,
st. thomas
st. kitts
barbados
margarita island, venezuela
aruba
back to san juan

which island should i purchase this if the price seems good? or should i hold off if other islands seem to usually have better deals? anyway, it is good to hear that they are more willing to bargain with movados, i've purchased tag heuers and a raymond weil in the caribbean (i think one shipboard and one in st. martaan) and i've gotten a better price that in the US, but it was always exactly what was listed on the tag.

When buying upscale merchandise in the Caribbean, particularly watches, you should always get a discount, including at H. Stern. I don't know of any Island with better values than St. Thomas... and, there is the additional benefit of the extra customs allowance granted for merchandise purchased in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Gabrielle, I just returned home from the Galaxy sailing. I remember a "flyer" from one of the stores advertising Movado watches. Let me look it up this evening at home. (I save everything!) Kay's jewelry store (St. Martin) has a brand new store in Aruba but of course this is after your St. Thomas stop. I have Kennie's business card at home, too. You could call him in Aruba to get a "ballpark" figure and to see if they carry the model you want. E-mail me your address, so I will not bother this forum.
