i sailed on the nordic empress rccl last may me and my husband were married on the ship while in port in nyc it was beautiful, however they lost our luggage we got on the ship on sunday and finally got our luggage on wednesday the staff did not do anything for us but give us boxer shorts and a shipshape t-shirt. when i got home i filed a complaint as well as filing one with the cruise director of the ship while on board. me and my husband have a 50% off coupon to sail again i have been doing research and i have found that the zenith is slightly different from the horizon. we have agreed to book the zenith in may or june to go back to bermuda being that we missed so much the first time around!! the zenith has in addition to everything the horizon has: the windsurf bar & lounge and the windsurf cafe in addition to the spa, caravelle restaurant, celebrity show lounge ( 2 decks), cova cafe, martini bar, casino, michael's club, rainbor room (club), rendez-vous lounge { which is on both these ships except with different names of rooms} i hope my info is helpful!!
Hi
We sailed on the Horizon this past october that just past. Besided for a few problems, everything was great. If there are any problems, when you get home you can call Celebrity's home office, and they will do everything in their powere to make it right. They had to change the port from New York to Philadelphia, due to the tradgedy, so right off the back we got a certificate for a future cruise at a savings of 25%, (they will send it to your travel agent). then when we went to go to check in we found out that the sailing before us was 4 hours late, because they ran into a hurricane, so that made our departure 4 hours late. The first night on the ship, everyone was very tense, including ALL staff, I guess that is expected due to the ride they had on the previous sailing, but after that night, everything turned out fine. When I got home I called the home office just to advise them of the rude staff that we encountered on board that first night, I didnt expect anything, I just wanted to inform them of the problem, and they wanted to send us each a $200 gift certificate for our next cruise with Celebrity. I did decline however because we already had the 25% coupon, and we are sailing on a 11 night western carribbean, and the 25% is better than the $200.
That was my first cruise ever. I thought the ship was perfect. The cabins were very roomy, the service was great, the ship was extremely clean, and there are plenty things to do around the ship while you are at sea. Bermuda was great to, It was very hot. The food on the ship was excellent, the buffet's were great, and I thought the shows to be good. If you were to ask me "what was one negative of the ship?" I would have to say the elevators. If you dont like to walk up and down the stairs, you are going to wait a long time for the elevators.
In response to taking the Horizon or the Zenith? I would definately take the Horizon, because the night before you get to Bermuda, they leave a $50 shopping card in your room for you to spend in Bermuda, the last I heard Zenith doesnt offer that, I heard both ships are just about the same layout, so for $50 why not take the Horizon? Any other questions? feel free to e mail me.
Hands down I would choose the Splendour of the Seas. I have been on both ships and have sailed to Bermuda (a great choice). The Spendour is a beautiful newer ship. The spa area is outstanding.
The Horizon in my opinion being almost 8 years older has seen better days.
Make sure that your vessel goes to Hamilton or St George's and not to the othe side of the island. We have cruised the Horizon to Bermuda and fell in love with Celebrity, JP
where could you use the coupon in bermuda. Did you have to spend money in the esstablishment or was it just like cash that did not require you to spend out of pocket.
