Default How do "Upgrades" work?

Hi there! My husband and I will be traveling with our three grandchildren and one of our daughters (she's the mother of two of the kids). We've put a deposit on two outside level 6 cabins (three to a room). I've been reading on the internet that some folks get upgraded. Does anybody know how one goes about getting an upgrade? Do you apply for it? Do you make any kind of arrangments in advance? I saw something about a "captains upgrade club" ....what's this about? We thank you all for your input! -Val

Hi Val,

Here is a link to an article that might give a better understanding of upgrades. http://www.cruisemates.com/articles/...s/upgrades.cfm

Assume that it isn't going to happen. It usually doesn't although there are occasionally specacular exceptions to that rule. The best way to guarantee and upgrade is to pay for it now.

I agree, don't count on it. I have read of a few on here but believe it happens only during off season when cabins aren't filled. I have sailed Celebrity 5 times, usually a higher priced cabin and spend alot on board but never did any good for any "loyality" upgrade. I belong to the captain's Club which does advertise a category upgrade but only in lower priced cabins and they are usually only seperated by about $50 per category. The captain's Club is good for priority boarding and disembarkation but thats about all.
