Default 11 night eastern carib.

Hello,.

I am booked on the July 8th sailing of the Galaxy out of Baltimore, that goes to the eastern carib. One question/concern I have about this cruise is that it does not spend more then 11 hours in any one port. Now I know I enjoy the days at sea so I am not concerned about enjoying myself but I was wondering if anyone has taken this cruise or one similar to it and what they thought about being at the ports for a relatively short period. Do you still have time to explore and enjoy the island?

Jim,
I've only been on 3 cruises but I don't think any of them were ever at port more than 11 hours.

Mercury Wester Carribean
Destiy Southern Carribean
Century Eastern Carribean.

As for enough time. I guess if you wanted to see the whole island no, but I haven't found it to be a problem.
Thanks,
John

My understanding has always been that in most ports there is a fairly large charge to the cruise ships for overnight stays. It is probable that since 11 hours seems the max, that after that the charge substantially increases. It's probably the main reason they stop at numerous ports for a short time. Also of course, people aren't spending money onboard or in the casinos when in port!! I have been told it's one of the reason the 7 day cruise to bermuda is expensive compared to other 7 day cruises, especially since the Horizon and Zenith are the two oldest ships, more expensive to stay several days in port, people are spending on shore not on the ship, and the casinos are closed.
