Default Can you help me? Advice Please

I am trying to plan a cruise for a friend. He is single and will be traveling alone. He is 78 years young, and in good health, and very outgoing. I think he would like to stay with a fairly newer ship. He likes and can afford the finer things in life, but is not a stuffshirt or a snob and would not want a cruise that would reflect snobbery. I have never sailed Celebrity, but from what I have read their newer ships may be what he would enjoy. Just wondering, Does Celebrity get many people traveling alone in his age bracket or younger say 40's-70's? Do they host gatherings for such singles to meet? Would Celebrity match him up to dining with other singles for dinner? Do they have social hosts? Do they have places to ballroom dance, or dance to jazz, or do they just have a disco? I think he would most like the Caribbean for a seven day cruise. Who could help me with some suggestions on which ship, or itenerary? Is Celebrity the right choice or should I go Princess,Royal, or Holland America?

I think any of the three, H.A.L., Celebrity, or Princess would be great choices for him. A single gentleman should have no problem meeting others for conversation, dancing, etc. I would speak with him about traditional dining or personal choice (a la Princess) before making that decision. H.A.L. and Celebrity both have a more traditional cruise experience if that is what he would prefer. However they too have more choices these days.

R.C.C.L. would probably not be best for him on many accounts.

Social hosts on Celeb are all male from what I know but if he is a good dancer he will be very popular with the ladies-- There is a Cruise dir & social staff that will assist.Lots of older single ladies who loved to socilaize--He will do fine--also if he eats in the main DR for breakfast & lunch each day he will meet many different poeple. Seating is fairly random but can be changed easily once everyone settles in. Celeb crowd is very friendly & lovely for the most part. Also lots of folks do take excursions on their own if if travelling with others--

So they do have dancing, other than disco on the ship?
Thanks again for your responses.

Hubby and I ballroom dance and find that the Rendez-vous lounge on Celebrity ships usually has a duo that plays ballroom type music. In fact, they usually announce what type of song they are going to do.

Century-Maiden Voyage-12/95
Horizon-Adults only-11/02

Millennium-Transatlantic-9/01, 10/03, 11/05
